Ave Maria (Ellens Gesang III, D839, Op. 52 No. 6) was
composed in 1825 by Franz Schubert. The piece was
created as part of a song from Walter Scott's epic poem
"The Lady of the Lake," translated into German by Adam
Storck (1780-1822). Therefore, it is an integral part
of Schubert's song cycle for "Fräulein vom See," based
on "The Lady of the Lake."
