The two emblematic chants of the feast of the Nativity
of Christ, the “Troparion” and the “Kondak”
unfold in this triptych according to architectures with
two, three and four counterpointed voices.
These six “inventions” use old Russian
melodies of the “Znamenny” type, which date back to
the Middle Ages.
