I recently wrote this trio prelude for organ over the
tune of a hymn by Johann Schop, which he wrote in 1641:

It's true that the trio may seem to sound quite modern
in its whole chromaticism, but when writing it, I was
actually influenced by some of J.S. Bach's choral
preludes from the Little Organ Book (Orgelbüchlein,
bwv 599 - bwv 644), as some of them contain the cantus
firmus in canonic form (bwv 600, 608 [,613], 629...) -
furthermore, I was influenced by one of my favourites
from that collection: bwv 617 ("Herr Gott, nun schleuß
den Himmel auf", which means ~ "Lord, God, unlock
Heaven, now"), and by bwv 906 for harpsichord (which is
very chromatic and, maybe, quite "futuristic" for
Bach's time...), especially the (regrettably
unfinished) fugue.
