The popular Christmas Carol "We Three Kings of Orient
Are" was written by Reverend John Henry Hopkins, Jr.
who wrote
both the lyrics and music. It was first published in
his "Carols, Hymns and Song" in 1863. The Reverend was
an ordained deacon in the Episcopal Church, and worked
as music director of New York's General Theological
Seminary.
