Here are seven utterly delightful Christmas carols from
Poland, arranged for SATB choir with optional keyboard.
All are offered in my own verse translations, which
keep as near as possible to the original Polish; the
musical arrangements are also mine. The carols are:
Into midnight's stillness; Oh what Babe lies crying; No
soft cradle; Little Jesus is crying; As the lovely
Maiden; O tiny Baby (Oj maluski); Lullaby, Jesus
(Lulajze Jezuniu). I have no Polish title for No soft

Here are seven utterly delightful Christmas carols from
Poland, arranged for SATB choir with optional keyboard.
All are offered in my own verse translations, which
keep as near as possible to the original Polish; the

Into midnight's stillness; Oh what Babe lies crying; No
soft cradle; Little Jesus is crying; As the lovely
Maiden; O tiny Baby (Oj maluski); Lullaby, Jesus
(Lulajze Jezuniu). I have no Polish title for No soft
cradle: this is a carol I can no longer trace, which I
heard some 50 years ago and which I have reconstructed
from memory. I think the melody is about right, and I
believe the words to be correct in their overall
meaning. Do sing some at least of these: they are real
treasures. Some of the carols have been posted
separately; in the present form, as a sequence, they
offer a moving and heart-warming prelude to Christmas
for church or concert performance.
