Instrumental Duet Instrumental Duet,Piano,Tenor Saxophone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.837493 Composed by Brett L. Wery. Concert,Contemporary. Score and parts. 38 pages. Sonata Grendel Publishing #5741825. Published by Sonata Grendel Publishing (A0.837493). Making the Darkness Conscious was commissioned by my friend, Jonathan Hulting-Cohen. Jonathan is the Professor of Saxophone at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He is an amazing artist and a technical wizard. The piece was premiered in its original version as a solo for tenor saxophone and wind ensemble. The present version for piano is not intended to be a reduction of the wind ensemble accompaniment but is a reworking of the piece as an addition to the saxophone/piano duo repertoire. The anti-heroes in film, TV, and literature who feel themselves pushed to do very bad things for very noble reasons inspired this sonata in one movement. These characters often are themselves corrupted by their efforts. One trope of scripted television anti-hero vehicles like Breaking Bad is the cold opening presented out of sequence. The main character is shown in the moment of highest tension or deepest desperation then the story backs up to explain the events that led to that moment. Making the Darkness Conscious uses the same device by starting with a mysterious, disoriented setting full of strange groans and weird echoes. The scene ends in a terrified scream and cuts directly to a happier, jolly portrayal of the solo tenor saxophone’s character. By the end of the piece, the soloist’s character is transformed into something more ruthless and tortured. One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious. The latter procedure, however, is disagreeable and therefore not popular. C.G. Jung

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1135733 Composed by JohnWillard Utuk. Contemporary,Contest,Festival,Film/TV,Instructional,Video Game. Score. 18 pages. JohnWillard Utuk #735794. Published by JohnWillard Utuk (A0.1135733). The Etherea Suite, Volume 1 is for intermediate to advanced players who enjoy lyrical, exciting, and showy repertoire, while expressing their imagination through their playing. Players get to musically explore the mountains, the desert, volcanoes, time travel to ancient times, and fight in battle! Volume I of the suite represents three main characters from the sci-fi, fantasy book Trials of the Innermost (release date May 26, 2023). Each movement has a distinct feel and reflects each character's personality. This edition features performance notes written by the composer, including musical elements unique to each movement, fun facts, and personal influences JohnWillard had in mind when creating the work. A graphic of the musical cryptogram system used to make the melodies for each character is featured at the end of the notes. The three movements imitate a sonata, with the overall order of the suite is slow, slow, fast. Some teaching elements in the first movement I. Vayriel: Protector of the Mountains, include: scalar passages (A natural minor scale), shifting hands position, rolled chords, repeated left hand patterns, ornaments, and pedaling. II. Zinvar: Peacemaker of the Volcanic Rifts is more challenging, but has more room for musicality, expression, exploring different touches on the piano, and ethereal use of pedaling, like the sostenuto pedal (if you have one!) The movement opens with a mysterious, wave-like arpeggiated left hand pattern, similar to pieces of Chopin or Rachmaninoff. The B section is practice in using the sostenuto (middle) pedal while playing softly, imitating Gregorian Chant. Best of all the ending sounds harder than it actually is and you get to play as loud as possible! III. Idrilia: Warrior of the Desert is fast paced, rhythmic, and inspired by video games. This piece is a nice supplement for students learning techniques found in toccatas, nocturnes, and pieces that require a big, full sound. The longest and most advanced movement, players can enjoy using all the things: pedaling, accents, quick changes in dynamic contrast, and a lyrical B section. Technique requires comfort with arpeggios, chord inversions, octaves, and sensitivity to voicing. Once mastered, this movement can be both fun to play as a stand-alone recital piece or an exciting treat to play for friends and family. You'll find yourself humming the simple melody as it transforms throughout the work, and the ending is a chance to play big chords by using the full range of the keyboard.

Flugelhorn,Piano,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1284795 Composed by Ho Fong Leong. Classical,Contemporary,New Age. 17 pages. Marco leong #875974. Published by Marco leong (A0.1284795). Alternate arrangement for Violin, Flugelhorn and Piano, Aug 2023.Dedicated to Simon, Leo and Wellington School as a parting gift. Scored for Violin, Horn and Piano. Premiered in St George's Bristol, September 2019. “And then we see†is dedicated to the wonderful people I have met throughout my journey in Wellington School, especially to two of my very good friends – Simon, a euphonist; and Leo, a ‘cellist. Originally planned to be written for Piano, ‘Cello and Euphonium, and to be finished and performed in our last school concert as a goodbye gift, I had however not managed to complete the work before graduation. I have therefore taken this opportunity to express my emotions and sentiments from the time with this newly written piece. One can therefore very easily sense the nostalgia pouring right from the very beginning of the music, as I reminisce our years together. It is based loosely on a ternary structure (ABA) – the A section depicts the moment of farewell. One can hear the violin plays a very simple, bell-like melody, representing the bell-strikes which signify that it is the end of a long journey – time to say goodbye. The B section, based on the very same melody, transforms itself into a 6/8 dance. This dance depicts the pang and melancholia as we bid farewell, leading to a passionate climax. The A section then returns with the melody in its original form, announced by the horn. The coda concludes the piece, trying to move away from the tonic, representing the start of a new chapter in our journey and our optimistic feelings about it. Throughout the piece there are also quotes from the famous Westminster chimes, and variants of it, enforcing the bell imagery.

Published by Mark O'Connor Musik International (A0.861927). The American Seasons (score – violin and string orchestra) MO148AScore (parts available)Music by Mark O’Connor99 pages - 38:00 minutes in length The American Seasons(Seasons Of An American Life)The American Seasons (Seasons Of An American Life) is a concerto for Violin And Chamber Orchestra. Composed in 1999, the music celebrates the various stages of an American life at the waking of the 21st century. Constructed in four movements and representing four stages of life, birth, adolescence, maturity and old age, the music also pays homage to Shakespeare's Seasons Of Man His acts being seven ages, incorporated throughout the work.Spring introduces the ideas of birth and infancy. After the principal theme has been stated, there is a violin cadenza encountering all twelve major keys and a 13/8 time signature representing the ancient golden ratio. These elements recall birth with all the possibilities a new life offers. Ending the movement, the principal theme is repeated with more complexity... as if posing life's questions.Summer represents the excitement and bravado of youthful adolescence and young adulthood. For the style of this movement I use a happy-go-lucky Blues voice which melds into Swing. I identify swing rhythm in all of 20th century American music culture as a common thread that runs through Ragtime through Rock and Roll on to Rap. Swing means testing the waters and pushing the envelope for lovers and soldiers.Fall is the slow movement symbolizing the wisdom of maturity. It is a peaceful theme with nostalgic strokes. It is a time for sincere reflection and enjoying ones accomplishments in life.Winter embodies the complexities and knowledge of an older person and that of a dying person. The movement begins with the principal them from Spring, but with a dissonance that emanates from a lifetime full of emotions and responsibilities. In the middle of the movement is a transition to an old world. I use my personal ancestry from Ireland as a foundation from which to rediscover one's lineage and explore the meaning and value of a cultural legacy. The exploration evolves into a four- and five-part fugue with a reel, jig, air, countered bass and the motif from the principal theme. All these elements, dances and melodies appear simultaneously and converge to form a unique insight to life's consequences from a historical perspective. Following the fugue, the principal theme finds its way back in. It sounds much as it did at birth. In the end, the solo violin cadenza carries the last earthly breaths before the violin and orchestra once again join in harmony to focus on a new life being transformed somewhere else. Life's four seasons in perpetuity. The American Seasons (2nd violins part – violin and string orchestra) MO148E2nd Violins Part (score and parts available)Music by Mark O’Connor36 pages - 38:00 minutes in length The American Seasons(Seasons Of An American Life)The American Seasons (Seasons Of An American Life) is a concerto for Violin And Chamber Orchestra. Full Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1021047 Composed by Scott Markle. 20th Century,Baroque,Classical,Contemporary,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 122 pages. MarcoPolo Press #5755357. Published by MarcoPolo Press (A0.1021047). Sinfonietta No.1 (Transformations) is an intermediate orchestral pieces in four movements that is almost 10 minutes (9:53) long. It is called a sinfonietta because, while it has the elements of a full symphony, it is shorter. The entire piece is based on the motif in the first bar of the first movement, and that motif get transformed (hence the subtitle Transformations) in many different ways. It is like how a person changes in various situations and in various stages of their life. The first movement (Allegretto) is in sonata form, the second (Andante Adagio) is in a quasi ABA form, the third (Scherzoish) is a Baroque-like quasi scherzo and trio with a modified scherzo at the end, and the fourth (Theme & Variations) is a theme with 3 variations, but elements of the first 3 movements are repeated at the end. .
