Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.893832 Composed by David Kai. Christian. Score. 9 pages. David Kai #5299895. Published by David Kai (A0.893832). This new hymn is especially appropriate for Affirming Ministries. The hymn draws on rainbow and rainbow-coloured imagery in the Bible, and the imagery of light which is composed of rainbow colours. The hymn suggests that Affirming Ministries have a badly needed light which they can proudly share with the world. This is an SATB arrangement of the hymn, however the author allows the copying of this music for one church choir. Please print of project the words during worship and report use to One License or CCLI.Chorus: We are a rainbow, sign of covenant and peace,For the flood of tears will finally cease to be,Come shine your rainbow, splash your hues across the sky,Paint the world in colours proud and bold and free. For more information about the hymn, go to:www.sites.google.com/site/davidwkaismusic

Elliot Rentoul #978203. Published by Elliot Rentoul (A0.1394714). This intermediate-level arrangement of Black is the Colour uses sections of texts from different artists' versions of the popular folk song to evoke feminine and masculine qualities. It also uses they/them pronouns to describe the love interest to include the diverse, loving relationships of people in your choir. The rich, close harmonies are woven together to create a feeling of wistfulness... perhaps a love long lost. Voice-leading makes these beautiful added note chords accessible to most choirs.

Small Ensemble Medium Voice,Piano Accompaniment,Tenor Saxophone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.534375 Composed by Paul Wehage. Concert,Contemporary,Holiday,Love,Standards. Score and parts. 41 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #3396161. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.534375). To You for Baritone, Tenor Saxophone and piano is dedicated to the American Baritone Kurt Ollmann, who has done much for the promotion and performance of American music both in the United States and abroad.Whitman’s poem speaks of seeing a stranger and feeling love for this person. In contrast to Poe’s To Helen, which treats a similar subject of a chance meeting of a stranger that the poet loves, Whitman does not idealize his subject but rather pointedly and brutally describes how he sees this person and what feelings (both negative and positive) this contemplation provokes in the poet’s mind In order to reflect this musically, there is an alternation between more introspective and brooding sections which are then followed by more ecstatic outbursts. The piece ends with the poet watching the stranger leave, expressing what the composer felt to be acceptance and release. As in any chamber music with voice, it is important that the two instruments allow the voice to predominate, regardless of the dynamics marked in their parts. The saxophonist should try as much as possible to match colour with the voice,in order to allow the contrapuntal exchanges between the voice and the saxophone to blend evenly. The pianist should play the passages at rehearsal marks E, G and K in a more soloist manner, always taking care not to cover the voice..To YouWhoever you are, I fear you are walking the walks of dreams,I fear these supposed realities are to melt from under your feet and hands,Even now your features, joys, speech, house, trade, manners, troubles, follies, costume, crimes, dissipate away from you,Your true soul and body appear before me.They stand forth out of affairs, out of commerce, shops, work, farms, clothes, the house, buying, selling, eating, drinking, suffering, dying.Whoever you are, now I place my hand upon you, that you be my poem,I whisper with my lips close to your ear.I have loved many women and men, but I love none better than you.O I have been dilatory and dumb,I should have made my way straight to you long ago,I should have blabb'd nothing but you, I should have chanted nothingbut you.I will leave all and come and make the hymns of you,None has understood you, but I understand you,None has done justice to you, you have not done justice to yourself,None but has found you imperfect, I only find no imperfection in you,None but would subordinate you, I only am he who will never consentto subordinate you,I only am he who places over you no master, owner, better, God,beyond what waits intrinsically in yourself.Painters have painted their swarming groups and the centre-figure of all,From the head of the centre-figure spreading a nimbus of gold-color'd light,But I paint myriads of heads, but paint no head without its nimbusof gold-color'd light,From my hand from the brain of every man and woman it streams, effulgently flowing forever.O I could sing such grandeurs and glories about you!You have not known what you are, you have slumber'd upon yourselfall your life,Your eyelids have been the same as closed most of the time,What you have done returns already in mockeries,(Your thrift, knowledge, prayers, if they do not return inmockeries, what is their return?)The mockeries are not you,Underneath them and within them I see you lurk,I pursue you where none else has pursued you,Silence, the desk, the flippant expression, the night, theaccustom'd routine, if these conceal you from others or fromyourself, they do not conceal you from me,The shaved face, the unsteady eye, the impure complexion, if thesebalk others they do not balk me,The pert apparel, the deform'd attitude, drunkenness, greed, premature death, all these I part aside. There is no endowment in man or woman that is not tallied in you,There is no virtue,.

Arranged by Andi Cook. Film/TV,Folk,Traditional. Brass Band. 26 pages. Andi Cook #943247. Published by Andi Cook (A0.1358786). A concert arrangement of the famous song to summon the nine pirate kings, featured in the the third Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Though not a traditional sea-shanty, having been written for the film, it very much has the feel of one. This setting for brass band, features the lower voices of the ensemble, and makes great use of the pitch-black harmony the original is rightly famous for. If your band has a strong bass section, trombone section and euphonium/baritone line then this could be the version for you! Building from an expressive Eb bass solo, the music takes on a darker and bolder turn as it grows. A lighter interlude follows, before a broad chorale conclusion. Guaranteed to impress any audience.

David Warin Solomons #1004217. Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.1422862). The bereaved lover gains some brief consolation at dawn when the blond light penetrates his (or her) lonely room and reminds him (or her) of the hair of the loved one. The mode of this song is Dorian, my favourite mode. Poem by E M Solomons - mother of the composer. Poem by E M SolomonsThe pale gold lightcreeps into my silent roomtouching my faceI know that you are here.Softly contours formas the colourstake the place of greyTranslucent gold hits the mirrorand reaches my lonely bed.Dispels the grey mist which lingerson the window paneDeepens the image and I see you.Pale blond lightwhere your hair once shone.Lonely shadow of my former selfI languish here. But then your dear voice calls with comfort, loveand saysI have not left, while your fond memories remain.I think of you andyou are herebeside and withinYour image fadesbut you are still here in me.You must you must come backif only at dawn.See through the tears of gold, you are here once moreYour ghostly presencefills my poor heart, searching my mindonce more to be as one, here is your bodyso close to my ownin this spectral worldwe share our thoughts. My soul now quiet at lastmy yearnings on hold. The golden glow brings me peaceand I might face another day(c) E M Solomons.

Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1250185 By Helga Ragnars and Knut Rygnestad. By Guðfinna Jónsdóttir and Knut Rygnestad. Classical,Contemporary,Folk. Score. 60 pages. Knut Olav Rygnestad #844518. Published by Knut Olav Rygnestad (A0.1250185). This morning your being wokeIn knowledge of your heart’s lossAs the night had no dreamsBut only a thousand falling stars. Then the richness of a busy daySeemed to you the work of evil witches.– Guðfinna Jónsdóttir from Hömrum (1899–1946)This quote, taken from the poem “The Golden Momentâ€, showcases some of Guðfinna’s writing’s distinct qualities: Profound sadness with a layer of beauty, and a juxtaposition of the mundane and the colloquial with grand imagery and the supernatural. Throughout her poetry we see these strong contrasts: A once-upon-a-lifetime moment that passes you by, but also the infinite beauty of a new-born baby. The wild Icelandic nature presented metaphorically like a protective Viking ship, but also great evil hiding under a sweet, romantic exterior. The life-long journey to a place of great beauty that was always inside you, yet also man’s desperate and futile attempts to bend a great mountain to their will. Her colourful and imaginative writing evokes the dramatic landscapes of her homeland in careful detail, as we’re presented with situations that carry both the great beauty and danger that the volcanic island holds.Guðfinna lived most of her life in Northern Iceland, working as a church musician and writing beautiful texts that unfortunately never made it outside of her native country during her lifetime. We get some small hints about her personal life through her poetry, such as the tragic and early death of her sister Hulda, who died from tuberculosis shortly after getting engaged. Helga Ragnars, being from the same town as Guðfinna and already familiar with her poetry, introduced Knut Rygnestad to it in 2019, after he expressed interest in writing settings of little-known poetry by women. The first two she sent were “Hið gullna augnablik†and “Tvær systurâ€, and Knut found these a joy to work with and quickly requested more, eventually leading to nine songs in total. With funding from Hljóðritasjóður RannÃs and the Norwegian Arts Council, they were able to record and release these songs in 2023, and hope that this will help to make Guðfinna’s poetry reach a wider audience. This book contains sheet music for nine songs: Hið gullna augnablik Vöggubarnsins maÌl AÌfangastaður Tvær systur LjoÌssins knörr Hver ert þuÌ Mannsbarn Fjallið blaÌtt Mig dreymir enn

Published by Rowena Harper (A0.762502). As cute as a bugs ear, this ultra-happy Christmas ditty by Sia is a true joy. Every theme seems unusually familiar, and they are presented by the lead one at a time, excepting the colour theme which is taken by the basses. The four themes are then masterfully woven together in counterpoint in the last stretch of the arrangement. The tenors have the final post whilst the leads finish their theme and the baritones noodle around them, concluding with a very jazzy, very christmassy baritone solo to polish the arrangement off. This is the perfect ear-worm for your Christmas season!Range (Lowest-Highest): Bass E-E, Baritone C-D, Lead C-D, Tenor G#-F.Key = CThis price is for a set of parts (four copies). Available also as a per copy price - minimum 10 copies.(Note: This sheet music is notated in barbershop format: Tenor (S.1) and Lead (S.2) in treble clef , Baritone (A.1) and Bass (A.2) in bass clef. The golden glow brings me peaceand I might face another day(c) E M Solomons

Soprano, tenor, Knabensoprano, flugelhorn, mixed choir and chamber orchestra - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q7038 Teil I: Schwarz vor Augen... · Teil II: ...und es ward Licht!. Composed by Harald Weiss. This edition: study score. Music Of Our Time. Downloadable, Study score. Duration 100' 0. Schott Music - Digital #Q7038. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q7038). Latin • German. On letting go(Concerning the selection of the texts) In the selection of the texts, I have allowed myself to be motivated and inspired by the concept of “letting goâ€. This appears to me to be one of the essential aspects of dying, but also of life itself. We humans cling far too strongly to successful achievements, whether they have to do with material or ideal values, or relationships of all kinds. We cannot and do not want to let go, almost as if our life depended on it. As we will have to practise the art of letting go at the latest during our hour of death, perhaps we could already make a start on this while we are still alive. Tagore describes this farewell with very simple but strikingly vivid imagery: “I will return the key of my doorâ€. I have set this text for tenor solo. Here I imagine, and have correspondingly noted in a certain passage of the score, that the protagonist finds himself as though “in an ocean†of voices in which he is however not drowning, but immersing himself in complete relaxation. The phenomenon of letting go is described even more simply and tersely in Psalm 90, verse 12: “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdomâ€. This cannot be expressed more plainly.I have begun the requiem with a solo boy’s voice singing the beginning of this psalm on a single note, the note A. This in effect says it all. The work comes full circle at the culmination with a repeat of the psalm which subsequently leads into a resplendent “lux aeternaâ€. The intermediate texts of the Requiem which highlight the phenomenon of letting go in the widest spectrum of colours originate on the one hand from the Latin liturgy of the Messa da Requiem (In Paradisum, Libera me, Requiem aeternam, Mors stupebit) and on the other hand from poems by Joseph von Eichendorff, Hermann Hesse, Rabindranath Tagore and Rainer Maria Rilke. All texts have a distinctive positive element in common and view death as being an organic process within the great system of the universe, for example when Hermann Hesse writes: “Entreiß dich, Seele, nun der Zeit, entreiß dich deinen Sorgen und mache dich zum Flug bereit in den ersehnten Morgen†[“Tear yourself way , o soul, from time, tear yourself away from your sorrows and prepare yourself to fly away into the long-awaited morningâ€] and later: “Und die Seele unbewacht will in freien Flügen schweben, um im Zauberkreis der Nacht tief und tausendfach zu leben†[“And the unfettered soul strives to soar in free flight to live in the magic sphere of the night, deep and thousandfoldâ€]. Or Joseph von Eichendorff whose text evokes a distant song in his lines: “Und meine Seele spannte weit ihre Flügel aus. Flog durch die stillen Lande, als flöge sie nach Haus†[“And my soul spread its wings wide. Flew through the still country as if homeward bound.â€]Here a strong romantically tinged occidental resonance can be detected which is however also accompanied by a universal spirit going far beyond all cultures and religions. In the beginning was the sound Long before any sort of word or meaningful phrase was uttered by vocal chords, sounds, vibrations and tones already existed. This brings us back to the music. Both during my years of study and at subsequent periods, I had been an active participant in the world of contemporary music, both as percussionist and also as conductor and composer. My early scores had a somewhat adventurous appearance, filled with an abundance of small black dots: no rhythm could be too complicated, no register too extreme and no harmony too dissonant. I devoted myself intensely to the handling of different parameters which in serial music coexist in total equality: I also studied aleatory principles and so-called minimal music.I subsequently emigrated and took up residence in Spain from where I embarked on numerous travels over the years to India, Africa and South America. I spent repeated periods during this time as a resident in non-European countries. This meant that the currents of contemporary music swept past me vaguely and at a great distance. What I instead absorbed during this period were other completely new cultures in which I attempted to immerse myself as intensively as possible.I learned foreign languages and came into contact with musicians of all classes and styles who had a different cultural heritage than my own: I was intoxicated with the diversity of artistic potential.Nevertheless, the further I distanced myself from my own Western musical heritage, the more this returned insistently in my consciousness. The scene can be imagined of sitting somewhere in the middle of the Brazilian jungle surrounded by the wailing of Indians and out of the blue being provided with the opportunity to hear Beethoven’s late string quartets: this can be a heart-wrenching experience, akin to an identity crisis. This type of experience can also be described as cathartic. Whatever the circumstances, my “renewed†occupation with the “old†country would not permit me to return to the point at which I as an audacious young student had maltreated the musical parameters of so-called contemporary music. A completely different approach would be necessary: an extremely careful approach, inching my way gradually back into the Western world: an approach which would welcome tradition back into the fold, attempt to unfurl the petals and gently infuse this tradition with a breath of contemporary life.Although I am aware that I will not unleash a revolution or scandal with this approach, I am nevertheless confident as, with the musical vocabulary of this Requiem, I am travelling in an orbit in which no ballast or complex structures will be transported or intimated: on the contrary, I have attempted to form the message of the texts in music with the naivety of a “homecomerâ€.  Excellent song to be used in the PYP's Unit of Inquiry: How the world works. Or even if you just have a Science Unit you want to give it a little more colour (I know, Science is colourful enough, but singing about it can be quite fun!)  Sing this song with your children, and students and leave your comments here! Did you find your answers? Or or you have more questions than before???

Grace Kelly is a song by the British pop singer Mika, released in 2007. It also appeared at the same time on his album Life in Cartoon Motion. The song entered the UK Singles Chart at No. 3 and one week later it jumped to No. 1, where it remained for five weeks. It ended 2007 as the year's third biggest-selling single in the UK.It also went to #1 on the Czech Republic, Ireland, Italy, Norway and Turkey singles charts.
The song is titled after the Academy Award winning film and stage actress Grace Kelly who went on to become Princes Grace of Monaco. The lyric "So I tried a little Freddie" is a reference to Queen'sFreddie Mercury, to whose singing voice Mika's has been compared.
The song was designed to be a mocking satire of musicians who try to reinvent themselves to be popular. Mika wrote the song after feeling frustrated with record company executives who wanted him to change his sound to fit the common pop mould - to be "more like Craig David". After one such interview, Mika wrote the song saying "I can be any colour you want, what the hell do you want me to be, should I look older, should I bend over just to be put on your shelf. What is it that you want? You don't know what you want so I can be every color of the rainbow.' And at the end I was like, 'all you think about is money, so "kerching"! - take that.' And that was the song."
A fun piece for audience and singers alike, with some vocal and rhythmic challenges, as well as occasional divisi parts, thrown in for good measure.
