Small Ensemble Ukulele - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.810045 Composed by Erik Satie. Arranged by Michael P. Walker. 20th Century,Romantic Period,Standards. Score. 75 pages. Michael P Walker #6358131. Published by Michael P Walker (A0.810045). Here are compositions by Eric Satie who combined the simple, tuneful melodies of Parisian nightlife with the snappiness of American Jazz, Satie created a new style of musical burlesque which made a lasting impression on many contemporary composers. Transcribed for the baritone ukulele or low G ukelele. Most are also playable on the tenor and soprano ukulele and, of course, they may all be played on the guitar. Solo Guitar - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.790882 Composed by Erik Satie. Arranged by Georg Mertens. 20th Century,Concert,Romantic Period,Standards. Individual part. 4 pages. Georg Mertens #3691539. Published by Georg Mertens (A0.790882). Eric Satie's famous Gymnopedie is written in a slow and transparent manner. This is ideal to be transcribed for guitar, being not too difficult as no fast passages or heavy chords need to be managed. The subtleness comes out very well on the guitar. The original composition is in D major. I chose as the key E major to allow open strings to sound longer out and also making it easier for the left hand.

Concert Band - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.569465 Composed by Erik Satie. Arranged by Thomas Graf. Instructional,Standards. Score and parts. 89 pages. Thomas Graf - the-hit-factory.com #6355159. Published by Thomas Graf - the-hit-factory.com (A0.569465). This piece is perfect as warm up for your band. It will settle up a good intonation while feeling the warmth of this heart taking melody and harmony. It goes through 4! Different keys, from Bb over C, Db to the original key D-Major. So for wind players it might be a great challenge to master the original key, while Bb-major would be the perfect starter key for a rehearsal. The Gymnopédies are three piano compositions written by French composer and pianist Erik Satie. He completed the whole set by 2 April 1888, however they were at first published individually: the first and the third in 1888, the second in 1895. Instrumentation: All Band Instruments, including Piano. As the title shows a reminiscence to Eric Satie the inspirator of the impressionism mouvement and a lot of other composers of the 20th century. A rhythmic melancholic piece. RayThompsonMusic #938540. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.1353773). Arranged double wind quintet/bass and optional percussion. Background info:Parade is a ballet choreographed by Leonide Massine, with music by Erik Satie and a one-act scenario by Jean Cocteau. The ballet was composed in 1916–17 for Sergei Diaghilev's Ballets Russes. The ballet premiered on Friday, May 18, 1917, at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, with costumes and sets designed by Pablo Picasso, choreography by Léonide Massine (who danced), and the orchestra conducted by Ernest Ansermet. The ballet was remarkable for several reasons. It was the first collaboration between Satie and Picasso, and also the first time either of them had worked on a ballet, thus making it the first time either collaborated with Diaghilev and the Ballets Russes. The plot of Parade incorporated and was inspired by popular entertainments of the period, such as Parisian music-halls and American silent-films.Much of the settings used in Parade's plot occurred outside of the formal Parisian theater, depicting the streets of Paris. The plot reproduces various elements of everyday life such as the music hall and fairground. Before Parade, the use of popular entertainment materials was considered unsuitable for the elite world of the ballet. The plot of Parade composed by Cocteau includes the failed attempt of a troupe of performers to attract audience members to view their show. Some of Picasso's Cubist costumes were in solid cardboard, allowing the dancers only a minimum of movement. The score contained several noise-making instruments (typewriter, foghorn, an assortment of bottles, pistol, and so on), which had been added by Cocteau (somewhat to the dismay of Satie). It is supposedthat such additions by Cocteau showed his eagerness to create a succès de scandale, comparable to that of Igor Stravinsky's Le Sacre du Printemps which had been premiered by the Ballets Russes some years before, and caused no less scandal.Although Parade was quite revolutionary, bringing common street entertainments to the elite, being scorned by audiences and being praised by critics, nonetheless many years later Stravinsky could still pride himself in never having been topped in the matter of succès de scandale. The ragtime contained in Parade would later be adapted for piano solo and attained considerable success as a separate piano piece. The finale is a rapid ragtime dance in which the whole cast [makes] a last desperate attempt to lure the audience in to see their showThe premiere of the ballet resulted in a number of scandals. One faction of the audience booed, hissed, and was very unruly, nearly causing a riot before they were drowned out by enthusiastic applause. Many of their objections were focused on Picasso's cubist design, which was met with cries of sale boche. Petite Fille Americaine  (Young American Girl) is no 2 in the ballet, and includes some of the odd percussion : typewriter and gunshots, in addition to normal orchestral perc.It also includes the Ragtime Dance which became very popular in it's own right. The piece can be performed without percussion....but the percussion gives it an extra something!!

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1302815 Composed by Erik Satie. Arranged by Ray Thompson. 20th Century,Chamber. 10 pages. RayThompsonMusic #892418. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.1302815). Satie: Sarabande No.1  Arranged standard wind quintetThe Sarabandes are three dances for solo piano composed in 1887 by Erik Satie. Along with the famous Gymnopédies (1888) they are regarded as his first important works, and the ones upon which his reputation as a harmonic innovator and precursor of modern French music, beginning with Debussy, principally rests. The Sarabandes also played a key role in Satie's belated discovery by his country's musical establishment in the 1910s, setting the stage for his international notoriety.French composer and critic Alexis Roland-Manuel wrote in 1916 that the Sarabandes represented a milestone in the evolution of our music...pieces of an unprecedented harmonic technique, born of an entirely new aesthetic, which create a unique atmosphere, a sonorous magic of complete originality. The sarabande is a dance in triple meter that originated in the Spanish colonies of Central America in the mid-1500s. It had migrated to Europe by the 17th Century, where in France it became a popular slow court dance. Satie's modern reinterpretations consist of three dances with a total duration of roughly 15 minutes:Sarabande No. 1 - A-flat major (This one)Sarabande No. 2 - D-sharp minorSarabande No. 3 - B-flat minorThe melody is shared amongst the top 4 instruments, and the quintet do not play tutti all of the time. This adds more interest and variation to the piece.Enjoy.

Satie: Parade - Final & Suite au Prélude de rideau rougeArranged wind dectet/bass (double wind quintet)The concluding music for Erik Satie's Ballet Parade.Other movements from Parade are available. The score contained several noise-making instruments (typewriter, foghorn, an assortment of milk bottles, pistol, and so on), which had been added by Cocteau (somewhat to the dismay of Satie). The finale is a rapid ragtime dance in which the whole cast [makes] a last desperate attempt to lure the audience in to see their showI have omitted the  percussion in my arrangement of the finale. The premiere of the ballet resulted in a number of scandals. One faction of the audience booed, hissed, and was very unruly, nearly causing a riot before they were drowned out by enthusiastic applause. Many of their objections were focused on Picasso's cubist design, which was met with cries of sale boche.Arranged wind dectet/bass (double wind quintet).
