The complete String Quartet score for Maxwell Davies' Quartet No.6. This work was commissioned by the Naxos Recording Company and is the sixth in a series of ten quartets. It was first performed on 26th April 2005 at the PurcellRoom London by the Maggini Quartet.

Jocelyn Pook’s Hearing Voices was commissioned by BBC3 for the BBC Concert Orchestra who gave the first performance at the Queen Elizabeth Hall London on 3 December 2012 with Melanie Pappenheim mezzosoprano conducted by Charles Hazlewood.The text for Hearing Voices was written by Emma Bernard. It also uses the words of artists Bobby Baker and Julie McNamara Jocelyn's relatives PhyllisWilliams and Mary Pook and the seamstress Agnes Richter inmate in a German asylum in the 1890s who covered her straightjacket with densely embroidered text. Nearly 400 years ago (in 1609) Henry Hudson and his ship the Half Moon explored the majestic river that was later to bear his name. Half Moon on the Hudson pays tribute to this area of New York and the spirit ofexploration and adventure. A regal fanfare announces the beginning of the work followed by an energetic and rhythmic section that features various sections of the band answering one another. An emotional and chorale-like middlesection provides a calmer mood along with lush harmonizations. The brass and percussion sections herald the final segment driving to a dramatic conclusion of this rewarding work for winds. Dur: 6:30 (Includes full performance CD)

Right from the beginning this dynamic overture explodes with intensity and rhythmic drive. Commissioned by District 8 of the Michigan State Band and Orchestra Association John Moss uses angular melodies and biting ensemblepunctuations to provide grit and character to this tour de force for wind band. For contrast a slow middle section features rich harmonies and sonorous melodies before a reprise of the opening dynamic themes. Throughout the workan active percussion score supports and augments the overall dramatic effect. Dur: 6:15

A single catchy melody is woven throughout the work in a variety ofstyles and settings. From the joyous opening and clarinet statement to the tender slower sections to the blazing full band passages this work packs plenty of variety into a very effective setting.
