Before music teachers can effectively implement Social Emotional Learning (SEL) with students in the classroom, they must first develop their own SEL skills and tend to their personal well-being. This practical guide takes teachers through thirteen sequential units designed to hone important self-care and SEL skills, such as regulating emotions, resolving conflict, managing stress, and building positive relationships. Each unit is structured around the three core pillars of SEL—Identity, Belonging, and Agency—and offers connections for both pre-service and in-service music teachers that guide them through a series of thought-provoking exercises to strengthen their skills, as well as space to discover, reflect, journal, draw, and commit to growth. An essential resource for current or future music teachers, and an ideal supplement for collegiate music education courses, this resource can be used again and again, year after year, to guide teachers on their journey to SEL competency and personal well-being. ISBN 9790080147115. 23 x 30 cm inches. Hungarian, English, German. Ferenc Liszt; Adrienne Kaczmarczyk.
The content of this volume consists partly of works that have survived in the composer's manuscript and are now published for the first time, and partly of the original versions of pieces that were published during Liszt's lifetime but later reworked. Of the earlier versions connected with Years of Pilgrimage, 2nd Year, Italy, the most noteworthy are the two completed versions of the Dante sonata, which are now appearing in print for the first time. Further important compositions belonging to the Italy cycle are the Petrarch sonnets. The first versions of these that we are publishing were actually published by the composer, and he also included them in his concert repertoire. Another particularly significant piece being published for the first time is the Freischutz fantasia, a characteristic, fine example of the type of opera fantasia Liszt developed at the beginning of the 1840s. Of the waltzes that feature in this volume, in addition to the first version of the concert pieces - the Grande valse di bravura and the Valse melancolique - we have also included three complete, technically less demanding little pieces that Liszt intended primarily as mementos.Territorial restrictions may apply. Spirited of the Land, the first of this four movement programmatic work, is inspired by the 1914 painting by Charles Russell, When the Land Belonged to God, and the composer's travel in the west. A Frontier Lawman, vividly depicts the swagger and demeanor of legendary lawman, Nathaniel Kimball Boswell. Cowboy Meditation, the third movement of West!, captures the spirit of the solitary life of the cowboy on the plains - his thoughts and the calls of the wild surrounding him. Railtown Jubilee, brings West! to a close representing the dramatic impact the railroad had on the West. Use this as an opportunity for making interdisciplinary connections.
