Charles Louis Eugène Koechlin (1867-1950) a étudié avec Massenet et Fauré et fonda la Société Musicale Indépendante avec Ravel, Schmitt, Caplet et Huré. Poulenc et Sauguet étaient deux de ses élèves. La composition des organes de Koechlin est publié dans une édition en deux volumes pour la première fois. Qu'il s'agit d'une oeuvre très importante apparaît clairement dans le fait que les créations ont été réalisées par des organistes importants: Olivier Messiaen a joué la Chorale op. 90 et Maurice Duruflé la première Sonatine.Une édition intéressante pour des concerts, des compétitions et de la liturgie. The Place Of Understanding is a work by Nico Muhly for High Voice and Organ commissioned by The Hanson Institute for American Music of the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester. The work sets 2 texts by Christina Rossetti and from the Book of Job and lasts around 13 minutes. Muhly states that The Place Of Understanding is essentially an Organ solo piece with tenor commentary making the Organ an equal partner in treating these two very diverse texts.

Master of the Queen’s Music Judith Weir was commissioned by St Paul’s Cathedral in London to write a piece for SATB choir and organ in celebration of HM The Queen’s 90th birthday in 2016.The piece is now available from Chester Music so that choirs all over the world can join in with the festivities. Le présent volume de 12 Motet Intabulations vient compléter les 3 volumes déjà publiés avec la musique d'orgue par Heinrich Scheidemann (vers 1595-1663), de sorte que le oeuvre d'orgue complet de l'organiste de Hambourg est maintenant disponible dans un éditorial modern standard. De 1611-1614 Scheidemann a étudié avec Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck d'Amsterdam et de 1629, a travaillé comme organiste à St. Catherine à Hambourg depuis environ trois ans et demi décennies. Il a fusionné le style de son maître avec la tradition allemande du Nord et est donc considéré comme co-fondateur de l'école allemande d'orgue du Nord. POD-Richard Allain's The Beloved for SATB choir and Organ. This work was commissioned by Merton College Oxford as part of the Merton Choirbook a collection of music being assembled to celebrate Merton College's 750th anniversary in 2014. The Beloved was first performed on the 18th January 2015 in Merton College Chapel by the choir of Merton College conducted by Benjamin Nicholas. This work is a setting of text by Thomas Allain: Above himThe dove will linger in flight As the Light is bathed in water The water bathed in light.And a voice will tearthe heavens apartHe alone hears now within his heart:The Father Well-pleased Whispering his delight. Richard Allain's The Beloved (Novello) another Merton College commission and also with words by his brother on the theme of Christ's baptism gives ample opportunity to demonstrate the virtues of their new organ in a toccata-like interlude illustrating God's voice tearing 'the heavens apart'. After this climax the piece subsides to a pianissimo heterophonic declamation of God's pleasure in his Son. A major influence on Bach ? who once walked 200 miles to hear him perform ? Buxtehude is among the great names in Organ music and the study of counterpoint. In Bright Mass With Canons the canonical motifs are present right from the beginning and carry through almost every bar of the work.There are echoes of early English Choral writing and abstracted sections with flurries of sound interspersed with more Choral writing all in the most modern idioms. Contemporary American composer Nico Muhly is a prolific writer and arranger who at 32 is the youngest composer ever to have been commissioned by the Metropolitan Opera in New York. His oeuvre includes two operas and many solo pieces and works for small ensemble Orchestra and Chorus and he has collaborated with artists such as PhilipGlass Björk and Sigur Rós.In the December 2014 edition of Organists' Review Christopher Maxim writes that 'the vocal writing frequently evokes Renaissance polyphony' and 'the language is fresh and contemporary with much zest being added by the organ part.'
