Suivant l’exemple d’illustres compositeurs tels que Berlioz, Liszt et Debussy, entre autres, Maxime Aulio fait perdurer le genre dans ce poème de sons qui relate l’histoire tragique du ch teau de Montségur (Ariège, France), bastion de la résistance cathare. Et tel un peintre impressionniste, il choisit, une multitude de timbres et de couleurs tonales toujours en parfaite adéquation avec le motif décrire.
