Sonata Movement (Grave & Presto) in B-flat major-Of Mozart's many fragmentary works it is the Requiem which stands out but there are many other fragments in his large compositional output which can ideally be used as a basis for a reconstruction. In the case of these two reconstructions for two pianos the editor has drawn on thematically suitable fragments from Mozart's piano solo repertoire and has arranged them for two pianos. In this way reconstructions are achieved which are based solely on authentic material. The result of this creative exercise is two new highly effective concert works for two pianos offering a valuable addition to Mozart's two existing works for this combination. The editor tookAbbé Maximilian Stadler's sensitive reconstruction of Mozart's fragmentary Larghetto and Allegro in E-flat major for two pianos (K. deest) as a model for his reconstructions.

Dans cette édition Henle se trouve encore une autre ?uvre importante en l?occurrence sous sa forme originale de 1783 la fugue grave en Ut mineur pour deux pianos K. 426 sur laquelle plane encore l?esprit de Händel ou de Bach. Mozart la publia peu de temps après dans une version à quatre voix pour cordes en lui ajoutant une magnifiqueintroduction adagio composée pour l?occasion. Pour la présente édition cette dernière a été retranscrite à son tour pour deux pianos par le formidable musicien Franz Beyer qui a en outre produit une version exécutable pour deux pianos du «Larghetto et Allegro» en Mi bémol majeur (absent au catalogue Köchel) dont on ne possède que des fragments. L?exécution de toutes les ?uvres réunies dans ce volume requiert l?acquisition de deux éditions.
