This series of easy piano pieces for teaching purposes presents pupils in the early and early-middle stages with a careful selection from well-known and less-known compositions by important masters. The individual volumes are deliberately kept small in compass, since it is more stimulating for children if the literature used for instruction is changed frequently. Between 1795 and 1802, Beethoven composed a large number of German dances, contredances and minuets. He made simple piano reductions of a considerable proportion of these occasional compositions. The selection of the present pieces was made on the basis of the compositions that seemed most suitable for the piano. The piano arrangements are based on the scores and the original piano reductions, and the marks of interpretation have been retained. The working-out of more finely-differentiated interpretations is left to the performer studying the pieces. These grateful little pieces are equally suitable as studies and as recital pieces. Heinz Walter, Salzburg, Fall 1974.

This series of easy piano music for teaching purposes presents pupils in the lower and lower middle grades with a carefully chosen selection of well-known and lesserknown compositions by important masters. The volumes are deliberately kept small in extent, since it is more stimulating for children to change the teaching material frequently. In his last years, Mozart composed a large number of German Dances for orchestra. This music for daily use of the time - intended functionally, for dancing and entertainment - is distinguished by enchanting ideas and simple textures. The editor has tried to cany over the instrumental subtleties into the piano-duet writing. These dances are particularly suitable for introducing some relaxation into the learning of the piano, for the interpretative and technical workingout demanded by Mozart's original piano-duet works is not required to the same degree here. The marks of expression have been taken over from the original score and in part supplemented. Notes not marked otherwise are to be played non legato. The technical difficulty of these pieces corresponds roughly to the third and fourth year of study. Heinz Walter, Salzburg, Spring 1977.

The present series of easy piano music for teaching provides pupils in the lower and lower-middle grades with a careful selection of well-known and little-lmown compositions by important masters. Each book has intentionally been kept small in extent, since it is more stimulating for children to change the teaching material frequently. In the course of his brief creative life, Schubert wrote more than 200 dances and waltzes for piano, which he grouped together and published in sets. The technical difficulties, which are sometimes considerable, are greatly reduced by dividing the music up between four hands; a process which has been carried out without necessitating any major alterations to the original versions for piano solo. Ten of the most beautiful waltzes from different opus numbers have been selected for the present book. Heinz Walter, Salzburg, Fall 1974.

With Reading Key Jazz Rhythms:Piano Book & CD set by Fred Lipsius, you will learn essential jazz rhythms first hand from world-class professionals! Reading Key Jazz Rhythms is a collection of 24 easy to medium level jazz etudes, and 24 simplified guide tone versions of the etudes. They are ideal for learning the basic language of jazz, swing phrasing, and articulation. A perfect tool for preparing for the jazz ensemble or for any other ensemble/orchestra which performs jazz related music (pops orchestras, musical, studio, movie scores, concert and marching bands, etc.). Each etude is based on a specific rhythm or a combination of rhythmic figures. Some etudes sound like very lyrical improvised jazz solos, while others are more like a melody to a standard. On the accompanying CD the soloist demonstrates the 24 melodious etudes together with a professional rhythm section. You can also improvise along with the play-along tracks using the chord symbols. The guide tones are the essential for defining notes for each given chord type. So if improvising is new to you and you find yourself getting lost, you can always return to a guide tone and play rhythmically around it. Any etude and its corresponding simplified guide tone version can be played together as a duet (with or without the CD accompaniment) with your teacher or a friend.
