Sally Ann Morris and Adam Tice began working together in 2008, when Sally was asked to compose a few tunes for Adam’s first collection, Woven into Harmony. This initial collaboration was the beginning of what has become a dynamic partnership. In this symbiotic pairing new inspiration emerged, generating contemporary but timeless music where text and tune seamlessly unite.     The a cappella choral writing on “Will You Hold Me in the Light†and “This Is My Body†is so lush and intricate that accompaniment is not necessary, while the poetry of “God Give Me Faith like a Child†and “Breath of God, Breath of Peace†illustrates the innocence and fearlessness essential in our love and trust of God. Stylistically ranging from a cappella choral to Latin jazz, each piece offers a musical and textual sophistication that powerfully conveys themes of journey and longing for God’s guidance.

Adam Falckenhagen (1697 - 1754) was a German lutenist and composer of the late Baroque period, travelling from court to court throughout his life, eventually settling in Bayreuth. It was there that he won the favour of Wilhelmine of Prussia, Margravine of Bayreuth, a lutenist herself, and the sister of Frederick the Great. He composed a variety of music for lute, including this Concerto in F Major in three movements: Allegro, Andante, and Vivace. In this edition, Victor Van Puijenbroeck has created a piano reduction of the orchestral score and also has adapted the lute part to be played on guitar. Included are parts for both lute (the part has been adapted from lute tablature to modern notation) and guitar (capotasto).

Duets are always popular, and these seventeen, written for small pianists, are very easy but nevertheless entertaining both to hear and to play. Adam Carse (1878-1958) was a master of composition and arranging for a number of instruments for young people and A Little Concert is an ideal entre into this oeuvre. The use of French is not without reason since titles include 'Do Do, L'enfant Do!', 'Les Cloches', and 'Dans les Gardes Francaises'. Among the other works are 'Folk Song', 'Toy Soldiers', 'Doll's Waltz' and 'Over the Water'. The boy depicted on the cover is inviting the animals to the concert since 'Little Bo-Peep', (the tenth work in the volume), has evidently lost her sheep!
