The early sonatas. Par SCHUBERT FRANZ. Schubert was visibly adventurous in his early piano sonatas, as is apparent in their wide-ranging key schemes, diverging versions of many movements or entire sonatas, and numerous works left incomplete. This revised Urtext edition contains the sonatas he composed between 1815 and 1817. An updated preface and valuable notes on central questions of performance practice (e.g. articulation, pedalling and embellishments), with a special emphasis on his idiosyncratic treatment of accent-like diminuendo hairpins, form a useful introduction to the sonatas. Schubert?s drafts and fragments can be accessed on the Bärenreiter website. - Urtext edition based on the ?New Schubert Edition?, with drafts and fragments accessible on the Bärenreiter website (see BA 9642: Extras) - Reader-friendly engraving with practical page-turns and running titles to facilitate the location of sonatas and movements - Valuable notes on performance practice in Schubert?s day (Ger/Eng) - Critical Commentary with readings relevant to performance, especially regarding Schubert?s notation of accents (Eng) / Date parution : 2022-07-30/ Recueil / Piano

Hummel Band 3 Piano solo Wiener Urtext
With the new Urtext Primo series, the Wiener Urtext Edition wants to close the g...(+)
With the new Urtext Primo series, the Wiener Urtext Edition wants to close the gap arising at the point of transition to additional lessons after having studied a piano method. Beginning with a performance level which is outlined by pieces such as Bach's Minuet in G (BWV Anh. 116), Mozart's Minuet in F (KV 5) or Schumann's Wilder Reiter (Op. 68/8), each volume contains works by three different composers, with the aim of offering piano pupils (or even adults who want to resume piano playing) a wide range of repertoire pieces on the basis of which they can enhance their technical and musical skills. In contrast to conventional piano anthologies, the pieces' range of levels of difficulty is relatively narrow so that the volume can be used continuously over a period of about two years. The selected repertoire takes into account not only pieces of the classic canon of lessons, but also lesser known works which are in no way of less importance for piano lessons. The explanations included at the end of each volume shall help to deepen the knowledge of musical styles, music history and piano playing. A repertoire chart at the end of each volume gives a rough overview of the levels of difficulty of the selected pieces. After Vol. 1 with works by Bach, Handel and Scarlatti and Vol. 2 with compositions by Haydn, Mozart and Cimarosa, Vol. 3 contains pieces by Beethoven, Schubert und Hummel, including popular pieces such as Beethoven's 'Für Elise' and lesser known, yet stimulating settings by Johann Nepomuk Hummel. / Piano

Op. Post. 147 - D 575.

90 / Piano / Wiener Urtext Edition

Franz Schubert's scherzos were right at the beginning of a development that, in the course of the 19th century, resulted in the separation of the scherzo from the sonata and its emancipation as an independent piano piece. These traces become apparent in the three pieces compiled in this volume: the two popular Scherzos in B flat major and D flat major (D 593) and the Scherzo in D major (D 570) which has survived, together with an allegro fragment, in the composer's autograph. With its pleasantly flowing melody, its typically Schubertian harmony and the modest technical demands, this piece might soon outrank its well-known sister work in B flat major. / Piano

for Piano-Early evidence of Schubert’s interest in music of the past can be found in his Fantasy in C minor of 1811 (D 2 E) with its echoes of Mozart’s fantasy in the same key. A recurring motivic snippet in the virtuosic Graz Fantasy in C major (D 605 A) probably composed between 1818 and 1821 already foreshadows the monumental Wanderer Fantasy of 1822 (op. 15 - D 760).Printed with spacious new engraving Franz Schubert's Fantasies For Piano unites the composer's great fantasies for solo Piano in a single volume and presents the early work Fantasy in C minor for the first time in ascholarly-critical Urtext edition. It offers advanced pupils students and professional pianists a richly varied musically and technically thrilling addition to their repertoire. In autumn 1827 Schubert composed eight 'Impromptus' for publication as a complete collection by Haslinger in Vienna. When the plan fell through Schubert offered his 'Impromptus' to Schott as pieces which 'could be issued individually or all four together'. The name of the works probably originated from the publisher Haslinger and Schubert also used it for his collection published later as op. posth. 142. The lyrical-romantic works are suitable for advanced piano students and have the character of sonata movements. Robert Schumann who regarded them as parts of a four-movement sonata drew attention to the second collection published by Diabelli in 1839 in hisreview. For the first time this scholarly-critical Urtext edition presents the musical text of the 'New Schubert Edition' in new engraving and with optimum page-turns. The fingering takes essential aspects of performance practice of Schubert’s time as well as performance on the modern concert grand piano into consideration.A detailed foreword suggestions for performance and notes on the evaluation of the primary sources complete the edition.- Scholarly-critical editions based on the Urtext of the New Schubert Edition taking all known sources into account- Newly engraved editions with optimum page-turns- With fingering and suggestions for performance (Ger/Eng) by Mario Aschauer- With a detailed foreword (Ger/Eng) and critical commentary (Eng)Mario Aschauerstudied piano historical keyboard instruments conducting and musicology in Linz Salzburg and Vienna. A fabulous composition by Austrian composer and innovator of the romantic art songs (or lieder) Franz Schubert. Fantaisie In F Minor isn’t the most popular of Schubert’s works but is often regarded as one of his finest in terms of both character and style. It is passionate melancholy and the simple repeated tune carries a weight of sadness. Originally for Piano four-hands Jeremoe Ducros has wonderfully arranged this work for two-hands Piano solo.

G Major Op. 78 D 894-Schubert?s tuneful and buoyant Sonata in G major was published in April 1827 as a ?Fantasy or Sonata? to quote the heading of its first movement. His first reviewer noted that ?the beloved and talented Lieder composer has presented the music world with a fantasy in which he lets his inventiveness loose. He presents the pianist with a harmonic indulgence without however amassing too many difficulties to complicate the execution?.Our scholarly-critical Urtext edition based on the definitive New Schubert Edition presents the sonata in a spacious new engraving with practical page turns. The work is introduced by an updated Foreword (Ger/Eng) and detailednotes on key questions of performance practice e.g. pedalling and Schubert?s characteristic way of writing accents. Rounding off the edition is a Critical Commentary (Eng) containing alternative readings of relevance to the performer. Complementing the Impromptus and Moments musicaux, the Wiener Urtext Edition also presents a new edition of the three late piano pieces D 946. Careful study of Schubert's autographs has led to various retouchings in the musical text, in D 946/2 for instance to the supplementation of a bar. The edition offers a new approach to the issue of the second episode of D 946/1, deleted by Schubert in the autograph, but included in the posthumous first edition and meanwhile embraced in modern concert practice. The separate edition of these repertoire pieces that have enjoyed increasing popularity since the 1970s has been expanded to include the two piano piano pieces D 916B/C that have survived as fragments and have been completed by Robert D. Levin in close observance of Schubert's compositional principles. Like the three piano pieces D 946, both works originate from the context of the Impromptus and have survived in the composer's autograph sketches. Their inclusion in this volume completes the picture of Schubert's late keyboard output and provides new impulses for the pianistic concert repertoire. / Piano
