Le groupe se compose de 54 membres, basé à la caserne Johan Willem Friso à Assen. Original exciting rhythms and contrasting harmonies make this composition enjoyable and challenging together. Thomas Ades' Chamber Symphony Op.2 was first performed on the 24th February 1991 in Cambridge at the West Road Concert Hall. It was performed by the Contemporary Music Festival Ensemble for the Cambridge Festival of Contemporary Music conducted by the composer himself. Chamber Symphony Op.2 is a written for a chamber orchestra consisting of fifteen players.

The music of René Clausen always leaves a lasting impression upon those who listen and those who perform. “All This Night” pairs the contrasting poetry of William Austin(1587-1634) and Oliver Wendell Holmes (1809-1834) with contrasting musical styles. Both texts are poems of praise referring to the wonders of creation and the power of the Almighty. Clausen very cleverly sets the medieval textwith a contemporary feel-syncopation some dissonance modern harmonies – while the contemporary text is set in a more traditional chorale-like homophonic style.

Although Zoom! by Shawn Okpebholo was commissioned by the US Air Force Band, its title refers less to the speed of supersonic fighter jets than to the brand of telecommunications software that allowed digital reunions between isolated loved ones during the 2020 pandemic, and to the race for a life-saving vaccine. The seven-minute piece for strings and percussion evokes the glimmers of hope and joy that manage to survive in times of darkness. Zoom! received a streaming premiere, performed in December 2021 by the strings and percussion of the US Air Force Band under the baton of Col. Don Schofield. One of Leos Janácek’s last chamber music works was written in the autumn of 1926 at the suggestion of the pianist Otakar Hollmann (1894–1967) an invalid from the First World War. Like his contemporary Paul Wittgenstein Hollmann urged composers to write something for Piano left hand; he succeeded in winning over Bohuslav Martinu Erwin Schulhoff and Janácek to do this. Janácek did not want as he put it to compose a “dance for one leg” but finally wrote a four-movement work with associations to military music scored for Piano Flute (Piccolo) two Trumpets three Trombones (preferably valveTrombones because of the fast passages) and a tenor Tuba. The French Horn was allowed by the composer to substitute the Tuba. The Capriccio was premiered by Otakar Hollmann and members of the Czech Philharmonic in Prague on 2 March 1928 in the presence of the enthusiastic composer. The new edition is based on volume E/5 of the “Critical Complete Edition of the Works of Leos Janácek ”. Urtext based on the “Critical Complete Edition of the Works of Leos Janácek”.
