Viola Violin 3 and Ensemble Score-This collection contains 14 arrangements of 22 traditional tunes from Ireland and Scotland in a variety of styles including jigs reels hornpipes slip jigs strathspeys waltzes and airs. The harmonies are written so thatvarious combinations from solo instrument with piano to duets and trios to full string quartet/orchestra are possible. The viola book includes melody (solo) viola viola harmony third violin and full score including violin viola and cello parts with piano accompaniment. All of the Celtic Tunes for Solo and Ensemble books (Violin Viola and Cello/Bass) are written as ensemble books so they can be played as solo books or together as ensemble.

In the composer’s own words ‘Keep in Touch is a lament a sort of chaconne divided up into sections by more freely-composed cadenzas for the Viola.’ The electronic CD supplied with the sheet music includes bluesy singing from Antony Hegarty among other sounds and Muhly clearly relishes the ‘inbetweenness’ of the singing and the falsetto of the Viola. Muhly’s music in this piece plays freely with time and key in a postmodernist way making the ultimate solitude of the Viola touching. Contemporary American composer Nico Muhly is a prolific writer and arranger who at 32 is theyoungest composer ever to have been commissioned by the Metropolitan Opera in New York. aus Amerikanische Wald-Idyllen-The American composer and pianist Edward MacDowell (1860?1908) is rather unknown in Germany although he had his artistic roots there for he was trained as a pianist in Paris Stuttgart Wiesbaden and Frankfurt. After returning to his home country he worked as a teacher while also being the director of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.for eight years. During that time (1896) he wrote 'Woodland Sketches' Op. 51 which is among his best known compositions for piano particularly the opening piece of these musical landscape paintings: 'To a wild rose' a simple yet expressively harmonized melody full of grace and peace.

Cantata for soloists choir and orchestra-Lobe den Herrn meine Seele (Praise thou the Lord o my spirit) BWV 143Little is known about the genesis of “Lobe den Herrn meine Seele” (Praise thou the Lord o my spirit BWV 143.A transcription from the 19th century was for a long time considered the only source; the musical text of the “New Bach Edition” was based on this material.  Recently however a copy of the score from 1762 has become available.  It offers a more reliable musical text rendering a complete revision of the cantata necessary.On the basis of this new source the work is presented here as part of the“New Bach Edition – Revised” in what is presumably its original form in C major with three trumpets.  This orchestration is more typical of Bach’s writing than the version for three horns in the surviving B-flat major version.
