Tchaikovsky's iconic Romeo and Juliet Overture is now available as a brilliant arrangement of the entire work for Trombone octet of advanced performers by Alexa Kuberra. The music is grand, sweeping, romantic, with dark tragic tones. The Trombone ensemble is an excellent medium for Shakespeare's and Tchaikovsky's works of genius.

Tchaikovsky composed Souvenir d'un lieu cher Op. 42 in 1878 for Violin and Piano. Melodie is the third of three movements of this lovely work. Later, in 1884 the movements were published separately and eventually Glazunov arranged the three movements for Violin and orchestra. The music is poetic, expressive, joyous and refreshing with a wink or two. Professor Mixdorf has beautifully arranged this 3-minute work for advanced performers.

Composed by Sigismond Stojowski, Fantasy, Op.38 is a piece for Bass Trombone and Piano. This lyrical piece, published in 1912, is very melodic and would require advanced skills and technique to perform it perfectly. This piece is one of the first he wrote after moving to the USA. Comparable to Chopin's 'Fantasy', even though Stojowski's seems better-written and more virtuous. A transcription exists for Viola and other instruments. Sigismond Stojowski is a Polish pianist, composer and conductor who studied at the Paris Conservatoire. He was a good friend of Tchaikovsky and worked as a Piano soloist in the USA with the Boston and the San Francisco Symphony, as well as the New York Philharmonic, among others.
