for Soprano Solo Instrument and Basso continuo-We do not know very much about Handel’s compositions on poems by Barthold Heinrich Brockes. We can only date their composition to approximately 1724 1727. The autograph does not shed any light on the titlesnor the sequence of the works. It does not even give the instrumentation. Thus there are several alternatives for the solo instrument that imitates the vocal part although Violin Flute or Oboe are the most likely. Henle's practical edition not only contains additional parts for the solo instrument and the Bass but also a realization of the figured Bass in the score by the editor Ullrich Scheideler.

Les Citations by Henri Dutilleux is a diptych for Oboe Harpsichord Double Bass and Drums. Composed in 1985 for the Aldeburgh Festival this diptych is composed of two pieces: I. For Aldeburgh 85 and II. From Janequin to Jehan Alain. Very enigmatic this piece is very difficult to play and requires a very good level of theory. It is however perfect for concerts or recitals. The third section which was later added to this piece is not part of this book which only contains the scores for the first and second part for each instrument. Henri Dutilleux was internationally acclaimed for his workwinning prizes such as the Gold Medal of the Royal Philharmonic Society and the UNESCO's International Rostrum of Composers amongst many others. His work also includes a Piano sonata two symphonies the Cello concerto 'Tout un monde lointain' (A whole distant world) the Violin concerto 'L'arbre des songes' (The tree of dreams) and the string quartet 'Ainsi la nuit' (Thus the night).

To this day Eugène Bozza (1905-1991) remains a prolific composer for wind instruments despite being a violinist himself. However his compositions for other instrumentations have not gone amiss  L'Étoile Du Soir being no exception. During his studies at the Paris Conservatoire Bozza won prizes for Violin conducting and composition as well as the Grand Prix de Rome. He then conducted the orchestra of the Opéra-Comique and became Head of the Conservatoire in Valenciennes whilst remaining a prominent composer. Composed in 1946 Bozza's L'Étoile DuSoir is based on a poem of the same name by Alfred de Musset a prominent poet during the early 1800s. This choral work is arranged for female voices; Soprano Mezzo Soprano and Contralto. Containing much musical variation Bozza's L'Étoile Du Soir is an exciting addition to the choral repertoire.
