| Orgelsinfonie No. 16 'Martin Luther' Organ - Advanced Schott
Organ - advanced SKU: HL.49045437 For Organ. Composed by Enjott Sc...(+)
Organ - advanced SKU: HL.49045437 For Organ. Composed by Enjott Schneider. This edition: Saddle stitching. Sheet music. Organ Large Works. Classical. Softcover. Composed 2016. 48 pages. Duration 24'. Schott Music #ED 22668. Published by Schott Music (HL.49045437). ISBN 9790001162715. UPC: 841886029088. 9.0x12.0x0.168 inches. On the occasion of the quincentenary of Reformation Day in 2017, the composer Enjott Schneider thoroughly studied Martin Luther the individual and all his contradictions. The result is a brilliant, demanding organ symphony which is perfect for concerts on the subject of Reformation and Martin Luther. The composer describes the five movements of the symphony as follows:'1st movement:Wir glauben all an einen Gott with its quintuplet-like beginning is very Gregorian in style, outlining the range of Lutheran emotionalism between the Middle Ages and the modern era. The irrationality of faith ultimately has priority over any thought and evidence. At the beginning of the movement, sounds of knocking on wood remind of the nailing of the Ninety-Five Theses to the doors of churches in Wittenberg. The chorale melody sometimes hides with an almost rough medieval saltarello, referring to Luther's robustness and vitality with which he knew to carry away even common people.2nd movement:In 1530, the electoral prince of Saxony presented to Luther at Coburg Castle the golden signet ring with the Luther rose which became the symbol of his theology of grace. A white heart with black cross is fixed on a five-petalled rose. To him, white is the colour of angels and ghosts, black stands for the pain of crucification: The just shall live by faith, but by faith in the Crucified. But the fact that the rose and the heart are the dominating symbols shows how Catholic Marian piety remained an ingredient of Luther's spirituality throughout his life. In line with the dominant five-petal structure of the rose, this movement was composed, to a large extent, in accordance with the floating, lyrical rhythm in 5/8 time.3rd movement:The omnipresence of death and dying - from the plague and war to the never-ending dangers of daily life - was an essential part of the world view of that time. Fears ensued that might heighten into the grotesque, e.g. in the pictures of Hieronymus Bosch. The Danse macabre was a popular motif in those years. Luther's chorale Mitten wir im Leben sind / mit dem Tod umfangen from 1524 (Enchiridion from Erfurt) is based on the Gregorian chant Media vita in morte sumus created in France around 750 and, with its idea of transience, inspired a simplistic air.4th movement:The famous confession delivered at the Diet of Worms in 1521, I stand here and can say no more. God help me. Amen, are not Luther's words but the version later used as text for a pamphlet. However, it represents quite plainly the straightforwardness and inevitability of his mission. Musically, it was made into a perpetuum mobile, i.e. a dogged, ostinato and never-ending musical air.5th movement:The Mighty Fortress, on the other hand, is one of the great symbols of Martin Luther which, with its shining C major key, embodies the Protestant ideology and willful nature of the Reformation unlike any other song. Heinrich Heine called it the Marseille anthem of the Reformation, Friedrich Engels the Marseillaise of the Peasants' Wars. This disputability is not thought through to the end but rather interrupted: With a jubilant birdcall version of the melody, the finale shows a rather chamber-music-like side of the ideals of freedom of Christians.'. $28.99 - See more - Buy online

| Requiem - church version (Requiem. Fassung mit kleinem Orchester) Organ Carus Verlag
Orchestra soprano/baritone vocal soli, SATB choir, 2 flutes, 2 clarinets, 2 bass...(+)
Orchestra soprano/baritone vocal soli, SATB choir, 2 flutes, 2 clarinets, 2 bassoons, 4 horns, 2 trumpets, 3 trombones, timpani, violin, 2 violas, 2 cellos, contrabass, harp, organ SKU: CA.2731149 Composed by Gabriel Faure. Edited by Marc Rigaudiere. French Sacred Music. Requiem. Fassung 1889 Fur Kleines Orchest. Sacred vocal music, Requiem. Single Part, Organ. Composed 1901. 20 pages. Duration 35 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 27.311/49. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.2731149). ISBN 9790007201593. Language: Latin. The Requiem of Gabriel Faure is now available in two versions: in the symphonic version which was completed in 1900 and in a version with small orchestra of 1889. The symphonic version of Gabriel Faure's Requiem, published in 1901, was the product of a 13-year compositional process. Starting from the original five-movement form for strings, harp and organ, the composer wrote two additional movements, one after the other, and expanded the instrumentation in various stages for later performances. The present reconstruction of a version with small orchestra differs from other such attempts in that for the first time it presents the work not in a mixed version, but rather in the unified form from 1889. This is distinguished from the final version both in musical terms, as well as through the fact that it forgoes the use of flutes, clarinets and bassoons, while employing only two horns instead of four. With a critical Report with information about the source situation and the edition, and containing the individual readings (alternative readings, etc.). Since in 1889 the Offertoire was still without the choral section the present edition contains the Offertoire of the final version as appendix. Now available in carus music, the choir app. Score and part available separately - see item CA.2731100. $17.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

The Faber Early Organ Series is among the most comprehensive anthologies of early organ music ever published. In 18 volumes it spans two centuries and six geographical regions, presenting a broad and balanced view of the main forms, styles and composers. Within each geographical region the pieces, most of which are for manuals only, are arranged by date of composition or publication. The presentation is both scholarly and practical; all of the music has been newly edited from the earliest surviving sources according to a systematic editorial method that preserves as many features of the original notation as possible while making it fully accessible to modern players. In every volume, an informative Introduction sets the music in historical context. Tim Raymond's dramatic and inventive organ piece was composed for the instrument in St Bavo's Cathedral in Ghent, Belgium, and was inspired by a plainchant melody found in a manuscript compiled there in 1481. Atmospheric, mysterious and fluid textures alternate with energetic, toccata like passages, reflecting and transforming the pitch structures and temporal proportions of the chant a meditation on the Trinity. A further dimension connects and resonates with the colourful pantheism and cosmic symbolism of the Van Eyck brothers' famous fifteenth century altarpiece, The Adoration of the Sacred Lamb, created for, and housed in, St Bavo's. $20.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 4 to 6 weeks

Recueil / Orgue

Martin Luther. Par SCHNEIDER ENJOTT. On the occasion of the quincentenary of Ref...(+)
Martin Luther. Par SCHNEIDER ENJOTT.
The composer describes the five movements of the symphony as follows:
'1st movement:
Wir glauben all an einen Gott with its quintuplet-like beginning is very Gregorian in style, outlining the range of Lutheran emotionalism between the Middle Ages and the modern era. The irrationality of 'faith' ultimately has priority over any thought and evidence. At the beginning of the movement, sounds of knocking on wood remind of the nailing of the Ninety-Five Theses to the doors of churches in Wittenberg. The chorale melody sometimes hides with an almost rough medieval saltarello, referring to Luther's robustness and vitality with which he knew to carry away even common people.
2nd movement:
In 1530, the electoral prince of Saxony presented to Luther at Coburg Castle the golden signet ring with the 'Luther rose' which became the symbol of his theology of grace. A white heart with black cross is fixed on a five-petalled rose. To him, 'white' is the colour of angels and ghosts, 'black' stands for the pain of crucification: 'The just shall live by faith, but by faith in the Crucified.' But the fact that the rose and the heart are the dominating symbols shows how Catholic Marian piety remained an ingredient of Luther's spirituality throughout his life. In line with the dominant five-petal structure of the rose, this movement was composed, to a large extent, in accordance with the floating, lyrical rhythm in 5/8 time.
3rd movement:
The omnipresence of death and dying – from the plague and war to the never-ending dangers of daily life – was an essential part of the world view of that time. Fears ensued that might heighten into the grotesque, e.g. in the pictures of Hieronymus Bosch. The 'Danse macabre' was a popular motif in those years. Luther's chorale 'Mitten wir im Leben sind / mit dem Tod umfangen' from 1524 ('Enchiridion' from Erfurt) is based on the Gregorian chant 'Media vita in morte sumus' created in France around 750 and, with its idea of transience, inspired a simplistic air.
4th movement:
The famous confession delivered at the Diet of Worms in 1521, 'I stand here and can say no more. God help me. Amen', are not Luther's words but the version later used as text for a pamphlet. However, it represents quite plainly the straightforwardness and inevitability of his mission. Musically, it was made into a 'perpetuum mobile', i.e. a dogged, ostinato and never-ending musical air.
5th movement:
The 'Mighty Fortress', on the other hand, is one of the great symbols of Martin Luther which, with its shining C major key, embodies the Protestant ideology and willful nature of the Reformation unlike any other song. Heinrich Heine called it the 'Marseille anthem of the Reformation', Friedrich Engels the 'Marseillaise of the Peasants' Wars'. This disputability is not thought through to the end but rather interrupted: With a jubilant 'birdcall version' of the melody, the finale shows a rather chamber-music-like side of the 'ideals of freedom of Christians'.'/ Répertoire / Orgue

Orgue / Partition

Lewis Carroll from 'Alice in Wonderland' and inspiration for this lively and fun piece of light organ music. ' . . . suddenly a White Rabbit with pink eyes ran close by her. There was nothing so very remarkable in that; nor did Alice think it so very much out of the way to hear the Rabbit say to itself 'Oh dear! Oh dear! I shall be too late!' (when she thought it over afterwards it occurred to her that she ought to have wondered at this but at the time it seemed quite natural); but when the Rabbit actually took a watch out of its waistcoat pocket and looked at it and then hurried on Alice started to her feet for it flashed across her mind that she had never beforeseen a rabbit with either a waistcoat pocket or a watch to take out of it and burning with curiosity she ran across the field after it and was just in time to see it pop down a large rabbit-hole under the hedge.'

Iain Farrington's Bluesday for solo Organ. Composed in 2010. Dedicated to Robert Houssart. 'Judging by this bunch of new publications the year 2010 was a busy one for British composers of organ music though quite why it has taken six or seven years for almost all of this music to appear remains unexplained. And if one were asked to guess the most recent work in terms of 'modem language' it would be this study from Iain Farrington. Dedicated to Robert Houssart this short piece combines - as one might infer from the title - certain phraseology from musical worlds not often encountered on a concert organ whether in a church or civicbuilding but it is not merely the thematic line (such as it is) that snakes in an uncertain manner but also the impacted sense of occasional harmony that speaks in a more modem musical language. None the less this intriguing composition would work best on a small instrument and is a fascinating piece to study at home.' - James Palmer

Thomas Hewitt Jones' Carnival. Composed 2010. Written for Martin Neary President of the Organists Charitable Trust. These five short works are all extracted from the excellent Little Organ Book from the Organists Charitable Trust edited by Martin Neary and first published by Novello in 2010. This is a wonderful resource of 11 mainly new works by British composers all of moderate difficulty and well-defined character. Iain Farrington’s Bluesday is full of delicious harmonies with a bold climax framed by a gentle beginning and ending. David Bednall’s Fanfare is a joyful work that would bea good recital opener or festival voluntary with a chance to unleash the big reeds. The simplicity of the title of Howells’s Cradle Song belies a richness and warmth that make this a moving miniature. John Rutter’s evening prelude from 1979 on the plainsong hymn Te lucis ante terminum is tender and clear with some surprisingly plangent harmonies. Thomas Hewitt Jones’s Carnival is an outburst of festivity and bravura. All these pieces are very much worth playing though organists interested in more than two of them would be better served purchasing a copy of the original anthology which is still very well priced (Little Organ Book Novello 9781849386814 £9.95). - Sunday by Sunday

Composed by Jehan Alain Trois Pièces is a set of upper intermediate / advanced works for Organ with pedal-use. The first piece “Variations sur un thème de Clément Jannequin” (Variations on a Clément Jannequin’s tune“ should be played “in the same way as Couperin’s Préludes: freshly and softly”. It contains four distinctive parts: Affetuoso Maggiore Fuggato and Grave. The second piece is called “Le jardin suspendu” (The hanging garden) and features three different parts that can’t be played separately. Thelast piece “Litanies” is quite religious and consists of the repetition of lamentations. Its introduction in Vivo is played only by the right hand then followed by a “Lirico ma sempre vivo” part. These are followed by switches between the main tempo and some Vivacissimo parts sounding declamatory. This third piece ends really harmoniously. Jehan Alain is a French organist who became famous with his Suite for Organ. Student of Marcel Dupré and Roger Ducasse among others he kept composing all his life. One of his most famous international pieces is 'Litanies'.

Vol. 1-3-Collected preludes and minor pieces for organ volume 1-3. Edited by Birgitte Ebert and Bendt Viinholt Nielsen. The Rued Langgaard Edition Edition Wilhelm Hansen Copenhagen 2017. With the publication of Rued Langgaard’s preludes and minor pieces for organ in three volumes the contribution made by the composer to this repertoire is being presented in its entirety and all its diversity. The publishers have decided to include as many ofLanggaard’s small pieces for organ as it has been possible to present in an authentic form rather than to carry out a selection based on aesthetic or formalcriteria. The 112 compositions are presented in chronological order in accordance with Bendt ViinholtNielsen’s catalogue of works Rued Langgaard’s Compositions (1991). The intention to include as far as possible all the completed compositions in the edition has resulted inconsiderable editorial challenges. In certain cases Langgaard’s own handwritten manuscripts are so unclear or incomplete that the editors have had to abandon the possibility of arriving at a form of publication that lives up to the strict requirements made by the Rued Langgaard Edition regarding authenticity and a critical approach to the source material. Therefore the editors have made no attempt to include a number of mainly untitled and undated preludes which Langgaard left behind in so loose a notation that publication in anything approaching authentic form is not possible (these pieces are registered in the catalogue of works in the appendix of omitted works as U10-U20). Par RAVEL MAURICE. Thomas Ospital

10 Orgelwerke Aus 4 Jahrhunderten-New Music on old instruments and new organ literature in dialogue with historical Iberian works. The present edition contains a collection of works composed for an authentically rebuilt historical Spanish organ and covering a wide range of styles which adds new sounds to the purely Baroque repertoire. With works by José Blasco de Nebra Francisco Correa de Arauxo Antonio de Cabezón Pedro de Araujo and new compositions by Guy Bovet Michael Kapsner Pavel Klimashevsky Zsigmond Szathmáry and Alfred Müller-Kranich.The new Spanish organ of the Hochschule für Musik Mainz as an authentically rebuilt historical instrumentfrom the workshop of the organ builder Joaquín Lois from Tordesillas in Castile shall both adequately reproduce early music and be a source of inspiration for contemporary music. For this reason the Hochschule für Musik Mainz commissioned five composers to write modern compositions according to the motto 'Early music in dialogue with New Music' which are a valuable addition to the repertoire of historical instruments of the 'Siglo de Oro'.Certain specifications had to be taken into account: e. g. a limited pitch range half stops for treble and bass registers the short octave as well as a mean-tone temperament. In addition each composition is based on a work of the Iberian organ literature; sometimes the work found its way into the new composition sometimes it only served as an inspiration. The pieces can also be played on a modern organ although there is a special charm in playing and hearing them played on an appropriate historical instrument. Encompassing a broad range of styles the resulting collection adds new sounds to the purely Baroque repertoire.

Of great practical value
?This edition has everything it takes to replace the Griepenkerl edition for practical music-making,? opined Rainer Goede (in ?kirchmusik.de?) immediately after the release of Volumes 5 and 6. If such a high degree of practical value is attested to these two volumes, then Volume 7 can proudly claim to have the highest practical value of all, since it has the greatest scope of all the volumes. After all, no organist can do without the basic repertoire of the 45 chorale preludes. Edited by Sven Hiemke, the book offers the best possible prerequisites for everyday use. The musical text is as faithful to the sources as possible, and it preserves Bach?s graphic idiosyncrasies in the beaming of eighth notes and sixteenth notes. Furthermore, the chorales are reproduced on three staves, which is fully in keeping with the practice of the Bach era ? but not with the source, however, since the composer himself notated the pieces of the ?Orgelbüchlein? on two staves, either for reasons of economy or for lack of space. The enclosed CD-ROM contains early versions and anonymous arrangements which should encourage organists to explore this repertoire in greater depth.

Judith Weir's The Tree Of Peace was composed in 2016 for Organ. Commissioned in loving memory of Richard Axtell (1952-2015) talented and much-loved organist at the Parish of St. Andrew West Tarring. 'It'senormously inspiring to see the Master of the Queen's Music turning her attention to the organ once again. Judith Weir's The Tree Of Peace is a short piece commissioned in memory of the organist Richard Axtell... Despite thesimplicity of the music it carries all the hallmarks of Weir's unmistakeably refined idiom.' - Stephen Farr Choir and Organ Jan 2018 From the Master of the Queen's Music Judith Weir comes The Tree ofPeace which was commissioned in memory of Richard Axtell organist of the parish church in West Tarring West Sussex. It was given its first performance there by Charles Harrison on the 17 June 2017. It lasts some 4 minutes andproves to be a thoroughly engaging piece in her customary refined idiom. It is in three main sections with a graded increase of tempo throughout. Thematic material is presented at the start cantabile. The central sectionprovides an energetic development marked animato leading to the conclusion molto mosso which gives the theme as in the opening but in augmentation. Throughout I feel an orchestral sense of colour and interrelationships inthe music - and have found it delightful to play. A modest two manual and pedal instrument with some contrasted quiet colours available will suffice and the technical demands are by no means severe. A delightful addition to therepertoire of short self-contained delightful pieces. - Organists' Review Duration: Approx 4 minutes.

?Mors et vita? death and life. This antithesis opens a stanza of the ancient 11th-century Easter sequence Victimae paschali laudes where life and death are locked in mutual struggle. Zsigmond Szathmáry?s 12-minute composition of 2015 commissioned for the Freiburg Minster interprets this primal human experience with mighty explosions of sound. Here the organ can show what it?s capable of: its grandeur and strength are fully exploited but not at the expense of soft and gentle contrasts. Typical of Szathmáry?s compositional style is the alternation of seemingly improvised recitative-like writing and passages in strict rhythm. Time and again the composer takes upelements from the church hymn Christ ist erstanden von der Marter alle (Christ the Lord is risen again).
