The Chanson de Matin is scored here for two Trumpets Horn in F or Horn in E flat Trombone and uba or E flat bass.Elgar’s Chanson de Matin was originally written for Violin and Piano. The composer later Orchestrated the work for small Orchestra. Much later the distinguished trombonist Roger Harvey formerlyof the Halle Orchestra and the Philip Jones Brass Ensemble and now co-principal trombone of the BBC Symphony Orchestra rearranged this melodic piece for brass ensemble to be used for young or less experience performers. He iswidely known as a freelance musician teacher and music publisher.

For this experimental film Nyman had the idea of building his music for the marriage masque scene experimentally layering Voices by different sorts of singers to build texture. He arranged the work for brass quintet almostimmediately in 1991.Nyman is a contemporary British composer of richly layered modular minimalist pieces often incorporating period instruments or instrumentation outside the normal Orchestral offerings. He is particularly wellknown for his film scores including The Piano The Cook The Thief His Wife and Her Lover Prospero’s Books and The Claim among many others. His work is widely performed and recorded.
