Vers 1731 il copiait des manuscrits de plain-chant au Collège dominicain de Borhem en Flandre. Plus tard il s?installa à Douai dans le Nord de la France forteresse de la foi catholique où le roi d'Espagne Philippe II avait fondé une université en 1559.
