Theodor von Schacht (1748 – 1823) for many years has
been music director at the court Thurn and Taxis in
Regensburg, Germany. During this time he composed 12
concertos for clarinet and orchestra, most of them for
clarinet in B. He wrote only one concert for clarinet
in A and orchestra (strings, 2 flutes, 2 bassoons),
which is presented here in a reduction for clarinet and
string quartet. The original is preserved in single
