Adeste Fideles est un hymne chrétien chanté lors du
temps de Noël et traditionnellement attribué à saint
Bonaventure. Son titre s'écrit parfois Peuple fidèle
en français. Peuple fidèle est un nom donné à
l'Église en tant qu'Épouse du Seigneur. Les
manuscrits du XVIIIe siècle créditent John Francis
Wade, qui était un musicien britannique enseignant au
Collège anglais de Douai, en France. Le chant parut
notamment dans un essai de Samuel Webbe en 1782.
