John Francis Wade was an English hymnist who composed
the hymn Adeste Fideles, also known as O Come, All Ye
Faithful. After the 1745 Jacobite revolt was suppressed
in England, Wade escaped to France where he lived
amongst other exiled English Catholics and taught
music.
