At one time this tune was only known among the Hammons
clan of West Virginia. The shifts between minor and
major modes make the tune especially interesting. Two
theories have been offered about the title. It may be a
corruption of 'Fall of Richmond' and refer to the fall
of Richmond, VA in the Civil War; or it might refer to
the rapids on the James River near Richmond.
