Next to nothing is known about either Gabriel Verdalle
(1845-1912) or this "Andante Religioso (Opus 1) written
entirely for Solo (Pedal) harp. Many feel that Verdalle
possessed a "Satie-esque" circularity that is most
engaging.
This piece is the first in a series of about 90 works
spanning his professional career. The original
manuscript indicates that this work was dedicated to
his Grandmother Madame Guillaume.
