Sull’acqua incombe una calma profonda;
il mare si stende senza un’increspatura
e, turbato, il navigante scruta
la piatta distesa che gli sta intorno.

Da entrambi i bordi non spira neppure un alito,
ma un silenzio di morti che incute terrore.
Nello sconfinato spazio dell’oceano
non un’onda si muove.
