Zydeco Two-Step

Composed in the style of a Cajun two-step the simple melody is stated first by the trumpets with a zydeco-inspired accompaniment. An optional advanced trombone part is included with New Orleans style tailgate effects. A washboard and optional keyboard bass part will add to the festive homegrown sound of a traditional Cajun band in this unique piece that is easy and fun to play!

This collection of 15 accordion arrangements of tunes by Clifton Chenier (1925-1987) clearly demonstrates why he is known as the undisputed King of Zydeco music. Written for the piano accordion as opposed to the Cajun buttonaccordion all of the selections in this book are transcribed from Chenier's 1965-1987 recordings on Arhoolie Records. Beginning with a section of easy arrangements of popular Cajun tunes, this book progresses to more difficult solos based on the playing of various fiddlers including Dewey Balfa, Michael Doucet, Doug Kershaw, and Rufus Thibodeaux. Cajun stylings, rhythms, double stops, slides, turns and trills, bowings, and tunings are discussed throughout the book. Fiddle and guitar are used in demonstrating the tunes in this book. The recorded versions are played at a slower tempo than typical performance speed to allow the listener to pick out details of the Cajun style.
