These sonatas are a compendium of violin playing of his time and laid the groundwork for future violin compositions. Over the years the sonatas have been published innearly 100 editions all based on Corelli’s first edition which contains only the solo violin line above an unrealized bass line. Today the sonatas are well known in numerous modern continuo realizations. However a realization from Corelli’s time by Antonio Tonelli also exists and is presented here for the first time in a modern performing edition. This realization is surprising in that it contains full chords sometimes played by both hands. In addition Bärenreiter’s new scholarly-critical edition includes for the first time many violin embellishments. For the most part they have been found in handwritten documents by Tartini Geminiani McGibbon Dubourg and Roger (from a re-print of the sonatas from c. 1710). These embellishments are presented in a separate booklet which players can place alongside Corelli’s original on the music stand. Complementing this Urtext edition are a historical introduction a critical commentary and an appendix containing preludes to the sonatas for keyboard by Tonelli.

Now all of Bärenreiter's new performing editions of Bach's organ works are being revised to reflect the current state of scholarship and to convey maximum fidelity to the sources by being linked to 'Bach digital'. The present volume is an updated edition of Series IV, Volume 6 of the 'New Bach Edition' (NBA), prepared by Dietrich Kilian in 1964. The discovery of new sources and a reassessment of existing handwritten copies have brought about changes to the contents of the volume, which now includes the 'Fantasia in C minor' (BWV 1121), the 'Fantasia in G major' (BWV 571), the 'Fugue in G major' (BWV 577) and the C major version of the 'Toccata and Fugue in E major' (BWV 566). On the other hand, the 'Prelude in G major' (BWV 568) as well as the alternative versions of the 'Fugue in C minor' (BWV 574a) and the 'Prelude in A major' (BWV 536a) have been discarded as presumably spurious. Besides the new compilation and corrections of the musical text, the volume also contains a detailed Foreword by Peter Wollny with observations on each work and the extant sources. Page turns have been re-examined and improved. In collaboration with the Bach Archive Leipzig and its 'Bach' digital database, links are provided to all the major sources. Karl Hoyer (1891-1936) was a highly regarded pupil of Max Reger and Karl Straube the Kantor of St. Thomas’s Church Leipzig. He held several positions including that of professor at the famous Institute for Church Music in Leipzig. For a long time his Chorale Preludes Op.57 were only available in libraries or second hand bookshops but the publication of the third of a four-volume edition makes another part of this important collection available once more. These pieces are characterised by formal variety brevity and are mostly modest in their technical demands. They were extremely well-known amongst organists duringHoyer’s lifetime a period which marked the transition from late Romanticism to that of the German Organ Movement of the 1920s. In comparison with the first edition the keys correspond with those in the “Evangelisches Gesangbuch” and “Gotteslob (Protestant and Catholic hymnbooks)”. Certaines pièces sont un écho rythmique au jazz ou au blues, d'autres une couleur de 20e siècle contemporain / classique (mais qu'est-ce que le contemporain ? Quelle année ? Pour qui ?). Tempo, dynamique, articulation sont laissés à la libre appréciation de l'interprète. J'espère que ces jeux, ces voyages musicaux vous conduiront vers des terres inconnues.
