In this celebratory choral, each part sings its own melody which later combine in partner-style form. It's an excellent choice for smaller choirs and younger singers learning to harmonize as well as to sing independently and in unison. The lyric uses English and easy Latin phrases to make learning quick while giving the opportunity for musical development.

Contempora ry ballad; easily learned; This gentle ballad is a fresh invocation to God's constant presence in our lives and worship. The Holy Spirit is always with us-sometimes we just need to be still. Gently contemplative, this choral almost sings itself. Lyricist Jennifer Dowell follows her successful “Jesus and the Children†with a memorable Pentecost text and Michael Barrett contributes a great melody. “SpiritSong†is easily learned and is appropriate for youth and adult choirs. Hymns revisited. Hymns reimagined. Hymns reinvented. Hymns relived. Hymns rewritten. At this point we've seen everything done with hymns that we can possibly think of. And you may be saying the last thing you want or need is another book of hymns. And some might be inclined to agree. Except...What if, instead of working so hard to change them or improve them, we focus on revealing the true nature, power, and majesty of our favorite hymns? Rather, to be true to them, and frame them in their best light by rediscovering a fresh appreciation of their well-deserved place in our houses of worship. Let our choirs raise their voices in unbridled passion, fed by the awe-inspiring, rich, theological and doctrinal truths buried deep within these tremendous songs of the Faith. Let our spirits rise with the soaring melodies, and once again give voice to our praise of the immortal, invisible, only-wise God! And, more than anything else, let us rediscover the joy that comes when we encourage our congregations to raise our joys and triumphs high, as together the Church proclaims, Then Sings My Soul, to the greatness of our God.While each great arrangement in this book stands alone, Then Sings My Soul is designed to be presented as a through-composed worship service of hymns, scripture, and inspirational readings for Choir, Congregation, and Worship Leaders, created and orchestrated by Cliff Duren. DVD Accompaniment Track, Orchestration, and Stem Mixes available.

Life has loveliness to sell, All beautiful and splendid things, Blue waves whitened on a cliff, Soaring fire that sways and sings, And children's faces looking up Holding wonder in a cup. Life has loveliness to sell, Music like a curve of gold, Scent of pine trees in the rain, Eyes that love you, arms that hold, And for your spirit's still delight, Holy thoughts that star the night. Text: Eric CrozierPublisher: Boosey & HawkesDifficulty level: 3Saint Nicolas (note the name has no 'H' in it!) was written for the centenary of Lancing College in Sussex, the independent secondary boarding school on the south coast of England which Peter Pears had attended in his teens. It has a vast chapel intended by its founder, Revd Nathaniel Woodard, as the cathedral for all the schools of his extensive foundation known collectively as 'Woodard' schools. St. Nicolas is famous for many legendary miracles and for being the original 'Santa Claus'. Crozier's libretto is designed to tell the story of his life, to recount some of his most celebrated acts and to give the audience/congregation the opportunity of joining in two beautiful hymns at key moments: 'All people that on earth do dwell' and 'God moves in a mysterious way his wonders to perform'. The narration is all done by the choir, though the tenor sings first-person narratives as well in his role as the mature Nicolas. The young Nicolas is sung by a boy in movement II. There is a dramatic moment at the end of this movement when the boy's voice does a tumble and the tenor proclaims in the voice of Nicolas as a young man: 'God be glorified'.The third movement is an accompanied recitative in which the soloist sings of Nicolas devoting himself to God through the agonies and torment of the many distractions and temptations of life. His faith wins through and he sings a final touching phrase: 'and Love was satisfied'. The sea whips up a storm in the next movement: 'He journeys to Palestine'. It threatens to overturn the ship and drown everyone on board. There is wailing from the sopranos and altos of the semi-chorus and agonised calls from the tenors and basses to 'man the pumps'. Finally, Nicolas begs God to let the storm cease and offers thanks for their safe delivery. Britten creates a palpable sense of relief in the final pages. In the fifth movement, 'Nicolas comes to Myra and is chosen Bishop', the choir sings chorale-like phrases welcoming him as their new Bishop. They go through his ceremonial dressing with all the accoutrements of his office, the mitre, crozier (nice pun on the librettist's name), robe and ring. An energetic chorus 'Serve the faith and spurn his enemies' leads to the first great hymn - a wonderfully climactic moment. Britten's arrangement is suitably uplifting. The final movement tells of Nicolas' death and the work ends with the other great hymn: 'God moves in a mysterious way'. This work demonstrates to me Britten's generosity of spirit and his natural feeling for enriching the repertoire at all levels of attainment. What a gift!Duration: 50 minutesPaul Spicer, Lichfield, 2011.

Cantica de Sancto Benedicto is a three-movement work for mixed choir, soprano solo, concert band and organ ad libitum - on Latin lyrics that relate to the life of Saint Benedict. It was commissioned by the city of Norcia in Italy, whereBenedict was born. The holy Benedict (480-547) is considered the founder of monastic life within the Roman Catholic Church. His enormous influence is especially owing to his monastic rule, the Regula Benedicti.Jacob de Haan has named the movements ofCantica de Sancto Benedicto after the Holy Trinity: the Father (Gloria Patri), the Son (Gloria Filio) and the Holy Spirit (Gloria Spiritui Sancto). The lyrics of thehymn Gemma Caelestis, (which, like the othertexts, were originally used in Gregorian chant) are voiced by the choir. To this purpose, Jacob de Haan composed new, choral-like, homophone music. The sequence Laeta Quies is rendered by the soprano; the verses (divided over the threemovements) are alternated with those of Gemma Caelestis. The work closes with an impressive grand finale, in which texts are used from the proprium of the mass in honor of the saint’s day of the holy Benedict (11 July). Notes to the conductor:For this cantata, there are various possibilities for the performance. The first involves a performance in which the choir and soprano parts are only accompanied by organ. Such a performance has several advantages: since the band never soundstogether with the choir and the soprano, no balance problems occur, and even a performance with a large concert band and a small cantata choir is conceivable. A special layout is also possible - with which you can set up a three-dimensionalperforma nce in a church. For example, the choir can sing in the chancel, accompanied by the choir organ; the soprano can stand on the gallery, accompanied by the main organ; and the band can be seated in another part of the church. The choir couldalso sing from a gallery. With layouts like this, working with two conductors is advisable. Choral parts available separately.Koor partijen apart verkrijgbaar. About M. Roger Holland II: What do you get when you mix a musician who is a pianist, organist, singer, composer, arranger and symphony maestro together? M. Roger Holland, II!! A man who knows Jesus and thanks him with every note he sings, plays, or writes. When you listen to Roger, you will know that God has touched His servant and in that touch, there will be a blessing for you! Roger has always had a passion for music. It started with him tinkering on his toy piano as a child and grew to him being accepted to the High School of Performing Arts in New York City. Roger's falsetto has opened many doors for him. He was a member of the All City High School Choir. Hearing his vocal abilities, he was recruited by the internationally known Boys Choir of Harlem. His musical talents garnered him a position playing keys on two Broadway plays in New York, The Color Purple and Memphis. When you witness the musicianship of M. Roger Holland II you will recognize the influences of some of the people he has worked with like Walter J. Turnbull, James Williams, Joseph Joubert, and Bettye Forbes. When you hear his writing, you may notice the stylings of Stevie Wonder. There is no denying the influences of Marvin Gaye, Peabo Bryson, and Luther Vandross when it comes to his vocals. The gospel inflections are representative of Richard Smallwood, Thomas Whitfield, and Kirk Franklin. The compositional techniques of classical composers such as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the arranging styles of Negro Spirituals by Roland Carter, Jester Hairston, and Moses Hogan are prominent as well. Leading the Gospel Choir of Union Theological Seminary fueled Roger's fire and drew him into seminary. His passion for music led him on a spiritual journey from Westminster Choir College to Manhattan School of Music where he received his graduate degree and ultimately the very same Union Theological Seminary where he received a Master of Divinity degree. Roger is the Minister of Worship & Christian Arts at Calvary Baptist Church in Jamaica, NY, where weekly he ushers in the Holy Spirit through praise and worship. He also serves as Liturgical Consultant for the Office of Black Ministry in the Archdiocese of New York. God is truly using Roger as an instrument to share His message!  For Bookings Contact: Cortney Wright Thomas 646-269-4055 cwthomas406@gmail.com.

Glori æ Dei Cantores Men's Schola sings these Gregorian chants of love and devotion to Mary, the Mother of God, the Theotokos, the Star of the Sea. While our names for her are as varied as the traditions that surround her being, one thing remains constant: she invariably points us to her own Son, teaching us to greet Him with that same yes by which she opened herself to Him, body, soul and spirit. May we all receive the blessing of her example, told through these ancient songs of faith. This SACD features the Stabat Mater, the Marian antiphons for Compline, and selected propers from the Feasts of the Immaculate Conception, the Nativity of Mary, the Annunciation, the Visitation, and the Assumption.
