This series of easy piano music for teaching purposes presents pupils in the lower and lower middle grades with a carefully chosen selection of well-known and lesser-known compositions by important masters. The volumes are deliberately kept small in extent, since it is more stimulating for children to change the teaching material frequently. There are four existing harpsichord books with a total of 226 compositions by Francois Couperin le Grand (1668 -1733). His works are as unknown to pianists as they are famous among harpsichord players. The grace and imaginativeness of his works lend themselves especially well to the sound of the harpsichord, which is why the piano interpretation of works by Couperin, Rameau, Scarlatti and other composers of that time has been categorically rejected. But, after all, the works of Bach and Handel were written for the haipsichord and clavichord, and no one would dare question their intetpretation on the pianoforte. In order to introduce these lmpressionists of the Baroque Era to piano instruction, the editor has added to this series a folio of both Couperin's and Rameau's (EB 8033) music. The selection of the pieces is based on two criteria: 1. relatively modest demands made on technique, 2. various musical forms of expression. The Butterflies and the Windmills are both especially typical of masterful character pieces. The demands made on technique certainly correspond to a level of moderate difficulty. The simplifications made are restricted to the artistically realized twopart accompaniment (eg. p. 4 f. and p. 8 f.) with regard to finger stretch and to the profuse ornamentation of the original. The indications for phrasing and articulation are those of the editor. The first two pieces have been precisely elaborated on in this respect to serve as a model, whereas the remaining pieces contain only suggestions. As in other folios of this series; what is here to be stressed, is the importance of working out independently the phrasing and the dynamics. Directions for this are given by the respective footnotes; these directions, however, are not obligatory. lndications pertaining to dynamics and tempo have been omitted completely; the clearly recognizable character of the individual pieces should be direction enough. The tonal possibilities of the piano should in any case be used subtly. The very precise fingerings have been adapted to the suggested phrasings and to the corresponding realization of trills (according to the table). Heinz Walter, Salzburg, Spring 1980.

The volumes are deliberately kept small in extant, since it is more stimulating for children to change the teaching material frequently. Jean-Philippe Rameau (1683-1764) is the second great keyboard master of the Baroque Age next to Couperin. His works are as unknown to pianists, with few exceptions, as they are famous among harpsichord players. The virtuosity and imaginativeness of his works lend themselves especially well to the sound of harpsichord, which is why the piano interpretation of works by Couperin, Rameau, Scarlatti and other composers of that time has been categorically rejected. The selection of the pieces is based on two criteria: 1. relatively modest demands made on technique, 2. various musical forms of expression. Baroque dance forms and graceful character pieces (LaJoyeuse, L'Indifferente) are typical ofRameau's work. Simplifications to a small extent of the harpsichord setting and also of the omamentation in the original version were required, based on the teaching experience of the editor. The indications for phrasing and articulation are those of the editor. The Minuet on page 6 has been precisely elaborated on in this respect to serve as a model, whereas the remaining pieces contain only suggestions. The volumes are deliberately kept small in extent, since it is more stimulating for children to change the teaching material frequently. When the aspiring pianist has dealt successfully with the works of Frederic Chopin for the first time, he will have left the elementary level of instruction behind. The following selection of easy pieces also requires security of technique and capability of musical expression in order to enable the florid sound of Chopin's piano music to unfold. As much as works like the Prelude in D flat major or the Walz in A minor may tempt one to premature endeavours, a study of Chopin's music should not be attempted too early. In the following five Preludes, the two Valses and the Nocturne in G minor (six Mazurkas have been published in a separate folio), the editor has made a selection of pieces, which can be mastered by the pupil (with the exception of opus 28/15 and opus 28/20), even if a limited facility and finger stretch is present. Because of the finger stretch required for some chords, a different distribution of the hands has been indicated or simplifications have been suggested. An introduction to the Tempo rubato, taking style into consideration, is a task lying within teacher's responsibility. Indications for pedal use were added by the editor. Heinz Walter, Salzburg, Fall 1979.

The present series of easy piano music for teaching provides pupils in the lower and lower-middle grades with a careful selection of well-known and little-known compositions by important masters. Each book has intentionally been kept small in extent, since it is more stimulating for children to change the teaching material frequently. Mozart was in London with his parents and his sister from April 1764 to July 1765. As well as performing in concerts as a child prodigy, he composed works for various instruments and combinations. A sketch-book dating from this period (EB 3276, published in full by Georg Schunemann) contains more than 40 compositions, chiefly for piano (KV 15 a - 15 ss). The works published here have been chosen with regard to their musical and technical suitability for pupils in the lower grades. Obvious notational errors have been corrected; tempo indications and marks of expression have been supplied where necessary by the editor. In certain pieces, Mozart himself specified the performance indications (as, for example, in the case of the varying articulations in no. 9). Heinz Walter, Salzburg, Fall 1974.

This series of easy piano pieces for teaching purposes presents pupils in the early and early-middle stages with a careful selection from well-known and less-known compositions by important masters. The individual volumes are deliberately kept small in compass, since it is more stimulating for children if the literature used for instruction is changed frequently. Between 1795 and 1802, Beethoven composed a large number of German dances, contredances and minuets. He made simple piano reductions of a considerable proportion of these occasional compositions. The selection of the present pieces was made on the basis of the compositions that seemed most suitable for the piano. The piano arrangements are based on the scores and the original piano reductions, and the marks of interpretation have been retained. The working-out of more finely-differentiated interpretations is left to the performer studying the pieces. These grateful little pieces are equally suitable as studies and as recital pieces. Heinz Walter, Salzburg, Fall 1974.

The individual volumes are deliberately kept small in extent, since it is more stimulating for children if the literature used for instruction is changed frequently. Of all Grieg's piano music, it is the Lyric Pieces (EB 8832) that enjoy the greatest popularity. These character pieces, which are very varied in their difficulty and their length, preoccupied the composer throughout his creative life. The easiest pieces from the first three books (op. 12, 38 and 43) have been chosen for the present volume. In the musical sense, however, they are by no means light-weight. Only someone who has made the art of playing expressively in the Romantic style his own with the help of Schumann's Scenes from childhood (EB 8436) will be able to interpret this poetry filled with the soul of nordic peoples appropriately. Interpretative indications have been partly added to; fingerings and the distribution of the music between the hands have, as far as possible, been adapted to smaller hands. Sensitive use of the pedal and a tempo rubato imbued with the sense of the music are prerequisites. Heinz Walter, Salzburg, Summer 1977.

The edition 'Klangblumen' by Barbara Heller (originally for piano, ED 20374) is now available for flute too. Each of the 14 pieces has a particular focus, such as a certain interval, a special playing technique, a characteristic rhythm or a continuous timbre. The pieces are musically demanding, yet can be technically mastered quite easily. The composer has made a point of allowing enough room for the player to incorporate their own musical interpretations.A collection for lessons and concerts.

This series of easy piano music for teaching purposes presents pupils in the lower and lower middle grades with a carefully chosen selection of well-known and lesser-known compositions by important masters. The volumes are deliberately kept small in extent, since it is more stimulating for children to change the teaching material frequently. Carl Maria von Weber (1786-1826) composed three series of piano duets: opus 3, opus 10 and opus 60. The piano pieces opus 3, which he wrote at the age of 15, are, despite the modest demands made on playing technique, among the most inventive and melodically sensitive works for four hands of the post-classical period. Together with the four pieces from opus 3, an andante from opus 10 has been included in this folio. These five pieces have been arranged in a sequence such that in their entirety, the result is a balanced suite - in a formal sense - for four hands. (The scherzo opus 3. No. 3 has therefore been transposed into C major.) Heinz Walter, Salzburg, Autumn 1979.

Hand el's keyboard works are more numerous, diverse and important than is generally realised, and the performer who is prepared to study them will find themselves amply rewarded by the discovery of their outstanding construction, melodic beauty and harmonic mastery.Quite apart from their own intrinsic value, they make great teaching material, and it is with this in mind that the composer has made this graded selection. For the development of rhythmical vitality, training of left hand technique, finger work and phrasing sense, they are unsurpassed.

No more dry piano lessonsSurging, flowing, dripping - with Splash the beloved Keyboard Crocodile has finally made it back to his original habitat.
ISBN 9790004182932. 9 x 12 inches. German.
Obviously the friendly little reptile only feels truly fit amidst original literature, and you'll be amazed to see how many gently flowing or wildly cascading pieces have been produced over the past two centuries. You'll find pieces by masters such as Czerny, Schumann, Gurlitt and Theodor Kirchner; some white-water pieces from William Gillock and Mike Schoenmehl; and with the Little Atlantic Rhapsody, an ocean breeze will sweep through every piano lesson. No one has to be afraid of water, however, since Splash is also ideal for non-swimmers! The pieces are generally a bit more demanding than those in the Horses book, but this definitely need not dampen anyone's enthusiasm. With this book, learning the piano goes swimmingly!

The volumes are deliberately kept small in extent, since it is more stimulating for children to change the teaching material frequently. In his last years, Mozart composed a large number of German Dances for orchestra. This music for daily use of the time - intended functionally, for dancing and entertainment - is distinguished by enchanting ideas and simple textures. The editor has tried to cany over the instrumental subtleties into the piano-duet writing. These dances are particularly suitable for introducing some relaxation into the learning of the piano, for the interpretative and technical workingout demanded by Mozart's original piano-duet works is not required to the same degree here. The marks of expression have been taken over from the original score and in part supplemented. Notes not marked otherwise are to be played non legato. The technical difficulty of these pieces corresponds roughly to the third and fourth year of study. Heinz Walter, Salzburg, Spring 1977.

With his Six Morceaux , Raff created a collection of six short pieces with the aim of pleasantly entertaining many a listener and demonstrating that he was also capable of writing something easy. After all, he had made a name for himself in the years before with extremely demanding chamber music for renowned dedicatees. The Six Morceaux , dedicated to the violinist Ludwig Straus, on the other hand, are probably related to Raff's teaching activities at a private piano school in Wiesbaden at that time. Therefore, with the individual pieces varying in difficulty they are well suited for violin lessons without losing any of their musical ambition. The most famous piece is probably the Cavatina. Arranged for various scorings during Raff's lifetime, it continues to be one of the most popular Encore pieces altogether - Fritz Kreisler, Yehudi Menuhin and Itzhak Perlman have made recordings of the piece. They say that a piano quintet version was even heard on the Titanic . This modern Urtext edition is based on the first printing, supervised and initiated by Raff himself. In collaboration with the Joachim-Raff-Archiv Lachen (CH).
