Mike’s solid arrangement starts out with the trumpets introducing the very funky unison melody followed by a stop time chorus for the saxes. Solos follow for the soloists of your choice on slightly altered Bb blues changes and then an exciting rock flavored shout chorus takes us back to the head. Includes an optional flute part. Following the model established by Bach and Chopin, George Gershwin (1898 �?? 1937) originally planned to write 24 modern preludes for piano, one in each major and relative minor key. The collection was to be called The Melting Pot as it combined cross-cultural elements of classical, popular, jazz, and blues styles. Already established as a composer of popular songs, Broadway musicals, and masterpieces like Rhapsody in Blue and Concerto in F, Gershwin�??s frenetic musical activities and an early death intervened, and for various reasons�??only three of the completed 5-7 preludes were published in 1927. By omission and circumstance, these three compositions have endured the test of time as Gershwin�??s Three Preludes.
 
T his book presents idiomatic flute/guitar arrangements of Gershwin�??s iconic Three Preludes. The original keys of the preludes were altered to accommodate drop-D guitar tuning and highlight the strengths and tessituras of the two instruments. The music is written in standard notation only and presented in guitar and flute scores, guitar accompaniment with extensive suggested fingering, and a pull-out flute solo part with guitar cues. Includes access to an outstanding online audio recording by The Cypress Duo, featuring flutist Amanda Hoke and author/guitarist Justin Hoke.

Divertimento is an outstanding composition by Roger Boutry for Alto Saxophone and Harmony Orchestra. This great work is really nice to play and will enlighten the audience. The Orchestra composition required is: 2 Flutes, 2 Oboes, 2 Bassoons, 2 small Clarinets, Clarinet I, Clarinet II, 1 Bass Clarinet, 2 Alto Saxophones, 2 Tenor Saxophones, 1 Baritone Saxophone, 4 Horns, 4 Bb or C Trumpets, 4 Trombone or 3 Trombone and an Euphonium, 1 Bb or C Bass, 1 Double Bass, 1 Harp, Timpani, Drum and a Celesta. It is divided into three parts: I. ?Allegro ma non troppo?, is strongly rhythmic and syncopated. It includes a Cadenza by the Solo Saxophone and is written as a tribute to Jazz music. II. ?Andante?, also includes a Cadenza by the Solo Saxophone but at the end of the section. It is reminiscent of slower blues ballads. III. This part features few sections by the Solo Saxophone but is specially highlighted its ending, in a bright and fast finale. This volume features the score and parts for all the instruments. Born in France in 1932, Roger Boutry received numerous prizes, including those for Piano, Composition and Conducting. He received the Grand Prix de Rome in 1954. His career was quite successful, alternating between Harmony professor, composer and conductor. He also received numerous prizes for his incredible compositions.
