Lullay, my liking is scored for accompanied two-part choir, allowing for various upper-/lower-voice combinations: two-part trebles or sopranos, upper voices only (S/A), or men only (T/B). If performed by a four-part choir, sopranos and tenors should read the upper line, and altos and basses read the lower. The keyboard part can be played on piano or organ, or harp. Graham Ross (b. 1985) is Director of Music and Fellow of Clare College, Cambridge, and Principal Conductor and co-founder of the Dmitri Ensemble. A composer and conductor of a wide range of repertoire, he has had works performed throughout Europe and beyond. He has recorded many rarely performed and newly composed works, including pieces by Ralph Vaughan Williams (Albion Records) - James MacMillan, Judith Bingham and Giles Swayne (Naxos) - and Imogen Holst (Harmonia Mundi). He guest-conducts throughout the UK and abroad, with recent engagements in Palestine, Australia, Nigeria, Denmark, Aldeburgh and Glyndebourne. Duets For Two Acoustic Guitars-The Christmas season has always been special to me. It is a season that has crystallized the hopes aspirations and faith of millions of people through the centuries. The amount of music written for Christmas is monumental.This book contains 14 scores from my Christmas Guitar Portraits recording. I selected various genres dear to me.First there are selections from the early American sacred song tradition. The Babe of Bethlehem Cherry Tree Carol A Star in the East The Shepherd's Star A Virgin Unspotted and I Wonder As I Wander all are from this rich heritage.I also picked a number of carols from theOld English genre. Away In The Manger Green Grow'th the Holly and What Child is This are included.Then there are the Christmas favourites. In the Bleak Mid-winter and a medley ofBaloo Lammy; The First Noel and Silent Night make any Christmas complete. Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence is one of my favourite Advent hymns. Gaudete Christus est natus is arousing carol dating back many centuries.Finally I included two originals. Lullay My Liking is an ancient carol text. Many composers over the centuries have written melodies to these lyrics most notably GustavHolst. I could not resist the temptation so the melody here is original. Finally Christmas Prayer is a new composition. I have always wanted to compose and arrange music designed to bring the Plectrum or Flatpick Guitarto the concert stage. These arrangements were written with that in mind.

The setting of an early 15th century text commissioned by the Choir Of St. John's College Cambridge for the Advent carol services 2004. Written for SATB chorus with a Keyboard accompaniment provided for rehearsal purposes.

Close harmony arrangement of a traditional Christmas text by the former member and later musical director of the Swingle Singers Carol Canning. Arranged for SAATTBB a capella.

This setting of the well-known fifteenth-century text is both simple and effective. With enchanting solos and a gentle choral refrain this tender carol will bring a moment of stillness and reflection to Christmas concerts and services.
