An arrangement of one of the songs from The Little Prince, a fabulous, moving and melodic opera by Rachel Portman with luxurious counter melodies and placid harmonies. This opera is based on French philosopher and aviator Antoine de Saint-Exupery's novella, Le Petit Prince, an international classic penned in 1943. It was composed by Rachel Portman, the first woman to win an Oscar for a film score (Emma-1996), with text by Nicholas Wright. While Saint-Exupery's moving parable of self-discovery is the foundation of the opera's appeal, it is Portman's music that gives the work its dramatic impact. The characters are brought to life and portrayed with a delicate combination of humour and poignancy. This SSA and Piano arrangement of The Birds by Richard Allain.

Over the past year, a committee formed by the Feierabend Association for Music Education (FAME) developed a set of standards for evaluating repertoire associated with the curriculum. With their guidance, we have removed several songs that were deemed to be harmful, derogatory, or disrespectful in regard to their histories or context. We have also added a number of new songs and rhymes from a variety of world cultures. The above link details these revisions for the curriculum book and the supplemental folk song collections.  The great American folk songs and rhymes on this CD have enthralled young people for generations. This recording embodies the true spirit of these songs, delightfully sung by Jill Trinka and accompanied by a wide variety of acoustic instruments, including guitar, dulcimer, autoharp, piano, percussion, string bass, and violin. The baby birds are getting bigger and it's time for them to leave the nest and try to fly. But not this little batch of nesters! They have decided they like their snug little nest and all of the amenities it offers. Why leave home when it's so nice and safe right here? Through the course of this musical, all of the other birds - including rapping raptors, humming hummingbirds, honking geese and more - will work to convince the babies that eventually everyone has to try to fly and make it on their own. And when you do, you might just soar! This charming 25-minute musical features five original songs and easy-to-learn rhyming dialog with over 30 speaking parts. The enhanced Teacher Edition includes piano/vocal arrangements with choreography, helpful production guide with staging and costume suggestions, PLUS an enclosed CD-ROM with reproducible singer and speaking parts.
