Enthält CD mit Welt-Ersteinspielung von John Eliot Gardiner-Scored for Soprano solo 2 Violins Viola Basso Continuo. In May 2005 the Leipzig-based musicologist Michael Maul made a sensational discovery in Weimar. While sifting through the Herzogin Anna Amalia library he unearthed the manuscript of a sacred aria by Johann Sebastian Bach which was previously completely unknown. It is the first time since 1935 that a new Bach Vocal work has been discovered. The aria consisting of twelve verses is written for solo Soprano Strings and Basso Continuo and opens with the words Alles Mit Gott Und Nichts Ohn ihn . It was composed in 1713 to celebrate the 53rd birthday of DukeWilhelm Ernst of Saxe-Weimar who employed Bach as court organist from 1708 until 1717.This Vocal work is Bach s sole contribution to the genre of strophic aria. Each verse is accompanied by basso continuo and followed by a lively string ritornello making this work a pièce d occasion of exquisite quality.Full score & parts (BA5246) and facsimile (BVK1870) available for sale.

The two-part cantata from Bach's third cycle of cantatas was performed for the first time on 4 August 1726 (the 7th Sunday after Trinity). The large-scale opening chorus for full forces to a text from Psalm 104 shows in its formal diversity Bach at the height of his powers. The second part of the cantata begins with a biblical text (Matthew 6, 31 ff.), not as a choral movement here, but as an extended bass arioso (Vox Christi). A meditative soprano aria with solo oboe forms the high point of the second part. Bach re-used the opening chorus, both the arias and even the bass arioso later in the G minor Mass BWV 235. Score and part available separately - see item CA.3118700.
