This intense grade 3+ work, subtitled A Hero's Destiny, conjures images of a Viking warrior preparing for battle and seeking glory through his conquests. The opening section features a flowing melodic theme painting a picture of the warrior longing for the days gone by, when love and peace were by his side. The music swiftly transitions the listener to an epic battle with aggressive and almost violent music that paints a picture of an adventurous battle that ultimately gives way to a doomed but honorable fate. The warrior's only true wish is to enter the gates of Valhalla as a hero destined for immortal glory! Each set includes three copies of the 3rd Violin/Viola T.C. part. Duration 5:15. Available in SmartMusic.

This is a very well known and beloved tune dating from the time of Henry the VIII in Britain. Therefore, there are lots of slight variations in how people have learned this tune. Please be very careful to make sure all singers agree on the notes actually written. This will make the singers the listeners much more comfortable with your performance. The consonant combination th is very difficult for listeners to hear. Singers should work diligently to be very intentional to articulate the text throughout. The verses are all built in two similar four-measure phrases. Even though the destinations are different, both phrases end with echo words. Therefore, please be careful to sing the second syllable softer than the first. For example,sleep-ing, keep-ing, in the verses. In the repeated refrains, please sing Ma-ry in the same way; it too is an echo word. To bring laud is to bring praise and adoration. A mean estate does not equal angry; it refers to a place of poverty. Part of the reason this is such a well-known and beloved tune is that it is very singable and very lovely. Therefore, when you sing it, always work toward making your very best sound and very best face. You will enjoy your performance more and so will your listeners. This is a very well known and beloved tune dating from the time of Henry the VIII in Britain. In Greek mythology, Zeus gave Pandora a box, but warned her never to open it. But the urge to open it overcame her. All of life’s miseries came out of the box, let free into the world. The final thing remaining in the box was hope, and a new beginning. This powerful and poignant work depicts Pandora’s myth. A bold and forceful opening statement gives way to a beautiful and haunting melody. Lush and mournfully dissonant harmonies gradually build to a climax of incredible emotion and power. As the music ends, we are reminded of a new hope and a new beginning, creating a sensitive and memorable moment. A meaningful and significant addition to the concert band repertoire; destined to be a classic.

There are very few composers who have left such a comprehensive oeuvre covering all genres as Camille Saint-Saens. His vocal music, however, has rather fallen into oblivion - if one leaves aside his 'indestructible' Christmas oratorio (Oratorio de Noel, Opus 12). But apart from that, Saint-Saens, who worked as an organist at various churches from 1852, composed a number of little church music works: settings for different instrumentations, certainly destined to be used in services, including his Ave verum for four-part choir (including organ without pedal ad lib.). It is a simple, yet harmonically rich setting which constitutes a valuable addition to the choral repertoire and an evocative alternative to the common Ave settings.
