Wie Schön Leuchtet Der Morgenstern (How Bright And Fair The Morning Star) BWV 1...(+)
Wie Schön Leuchtet Der Morgenstern (How Bright And Fair The Morning Star) BWV 1. Cantata for the Feast of Annunciation Day.The cantata ? Wie Schön Leuchtet Der Morgenstern? BWV 1 was written for 25 March 1725 when the Feast of the Annunciation of the Blessed Mary coincided with Palm Sunday. It forms the conclusion of Bach?s cantata cycle of 1724/25.The anonymous librettist retained the outer verses 1 and 7 of Philipp Nicolai?s text (1599) which is assigned to the feast of Epiphany according to old tradition but was also sung at the Annunciation of the Blessed Mary. Verses 2 to 6 form the basis for the Tenor and Bassrecitatives and the Soprano and Tenor arias.Bach?s composition has a particularly festive brilliance with his use of 2 Horns 2 Oboes Da Caccia and the two concertante solo Violins. The Violins? lively figurations clearly reflect an image of the shining morning star.- Urtext of the New Bach Edition.- Original German text with English singing translation.- Idiomatic and easy-to-play Piano reduction.- Performance material (BA10001) vocal score (BA10001-90) & study score (TP1001) available for sale.

Media Type : Book Level : Intermediate Musical Genre : Baroque Number of pages : 56 While many electric bassists study the Bach cello suites at some point, fewer attempt the sonatas and partitas for un- accompanied violin (BWV 1001-1006). Composed around 1720, the sonatas and partitas display rich polyphonic writing, unlike the simpler monophonic cello suites. This collection features a challenging but rewarding transcription of the complete A minor Violin Sonata (BWV 1002), which fits particularly well on the bass. Also included are the well-known gavotte en rondeau from the E major violin partita (BWV1006) and the complete A minor partita for solo flute (BWV 1013), transposed here to D minor. Finally, an arrangement of the familiar chorale Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring (from BWV 147) takes advantage of the bass's natural and artificial harmonics. Performance notes are included. Written in notation and tablature for the 4-string electric bass.

Between 1717 and 1723 Johann Sebastian Bach composed Six Suites for Violoncello (BWV 1007 ? BWV 1012). Of these the first three have been transcribed for Guitar in this coursebook which in itself is a considerable amount of work. For guitarists these compositions are a real challenge ? a challenge however that brings with it a lot of benefits. Because once you get to know them you get hooked on them and by playing them you?ll be able to considerably refine your playing technique. But believe me the pieces are so gripping that you?ll barely notice the effort! Every suite presented in this coursebook comprises sixmovements. The first of these is always a prelude followed by five dances. The CD attached to the coursebook presents every single one of the 18 movements in its full length in order to help you interpret them flawlessly.

Based on Johann Sebastian Bach. First edition-In early 1729 Bach became director of the so-called »Scottish Collegium Musician« a music organization of students and local citizens. The remarkable results of this undertaking are the concertos for harpsichord. Today it is almost certain that practically all of these concertos were transcribed from concertos for melody instruments (mostly violin or oboe). When Johann Sebastian Bach created his six-part corpus of harpsichord concertos in 1738 (BWV 1052-1057) he gave pride of place to the Concerto in D minor BWV 1052. It has long been thought for good reasons that this piece was based on a lost violin concerto in the same key that he had already transcribed on twoprevious occasions. The second 'forerunner' of BWV 1052 is the present harpsichord concerto. It was first published by Wilhelm Rust in volume 17 of the old Bach Society Gesamtausgabe (1869) and given the number BWV 1052a in the Schmieder catalogue. Rust felt that Johann Sebastian Bach himself wrote out the principal source a set of orchestral parts preserved in the Berlin Staatsbibliothek under the shelf mark Mus. ms. St 350 and therefore treated the piece as an authentic early version of BWV 1052. Today however we know that the scribe was Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach who is generally also regarded as the work's author.Urtext of the New Bach EditionParts (BA5231) two-keyboard reduction (BA5231-90) and study score (TP410) format 22.5 x 16.5cm (all 6 concertos) available for sale

The remarkable results of this undertaking are the concertos for harpsichord. Today it is almost certain that practically all of these concertos were transcribed from concertos for melody instruments (mostly violin or oboe). The D-major Concerto BWV 1054 originated as a transcription of Bach’s Violin Concerto in E major BWV 1042. Toaccommodate the upper limit of the harpsichord keyboard Bach decided to transpose the piece down a whole tone which allowed him to retain the frequently occurring peak pitch e3 without altering the melodic line. The D-major Concerto owes its popularity to the clear and straightforward formal design of its movements no less than its overall mood of relaxed merriment. If Bach Was A Cellist-The purpose of the series if Bach was a cellist is to live...(+)
If Bach Was A Cellist-The purpose of the series if Bach was a cellist is to live the fantasy that everything Bach wrote he wrote for the cello. The concerto in D minor (BWV 1043) for two violins string orchestra and continuo by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) is one of his most loved works. Indeed the slow movement may be one of the most popular and loved pieces in the instrumental literature. Traditionally it is believed to have been written in Köthen where he held the position of 'fürstlischer Kapellmeister' from 1717-1723 a town that saw the birth of the Brandenburg concertos and the solo works for violin and cello. The Dorian church mode (the absent Bflat in the key of Dminor) would also speak for the younger Bach. Recent research however has shown that the orchestral parts carefully written out by Bach himself and found among the papers of his son Carl Philip Emanuel date from around 1730. The sophistication of the composition also speaks for a later date than Köthen. The original score has been lost.Always in need of concert material for his 'Collegium Musicus' in Leipzig Bach made a version of the present concerto for two harpsichords (BWV 1062). The original key was transposed to C minor so that the top note would not exceed a D but remain within the range of a standard harpsichord. Another C minor concerto (BWV 1060) for two harpsi-chords often heard in an arrangement from the 1920's for violin and oboe by Max Schneider and Max Seiffert speaks for two concertos in D minor for two violins by Bach. When arranging an orchestral score for the pianoforte one has to remember that a double-bass sounds an octave lower than notated. This is a welcomed fact when dealing with two instruments that play the original solo parts an octave down. At the same time for a transcription of this kind the ambition must be to avoid the cello soloists playing in octaves with the violin tutti parts - which is what would happen were they to share the same material. This ambition made a piano reduction

In early 1729 Bach became director of the so-called »Scottish Collegium Musician« a music organization of students and local citizens. The principal source for our edition is the autograph score of Bach’s harpsichord concertos preserved in the Berlin Staatsbibliothek (Mus. ms. Bach P 234) where BWV 1054 forms the third item. This mood also finds expression in Bach’s choice of the rondo form for the final movement a form otherwise seldom encountered in his concertos.Urtext of the New Bach EditionFull score & parts (BA5226) two-keyboard reduction (BA5226-90) and study score (TP410) format 22.5 x 16.5cm (all 6 concertos) available for sale
