A l'arrière d'une limousine ou au fond d'un studio d'enregistrement, dans l'immense appartement sur Central Park ou un petit café de Columbus Avenue, David Sheff a laissé défiler la bande de son magnéto, réalisant, jour après jour pendant trois semaines, ces entretiens en profondeur avec le couple Lennon/Ono. C'était à l'automne 1980, et l'ancien Beatle se sentait renaître. Après plusieurs années de silence, il voulait parler, faire partager sa joie de composer un nouveau disque, Double Fantasy, d'élever son fils Sean, de vivre et rêver avec Yoko, à quarante ans. " Nous n'avons pas besoin de publicité, nous avons besoin d'expliquer ce que nous faisons...
