A spectacular set of songs by distinguished and versatile composer Andre Previn. These four songs for Tenor and Piano are based on texts by Philip Larkin and William Carlos Williams. The feeling and depth of emotion captured bythese authors is only emphasised and exaggerated by Previn’s masterful composition at times flowing and airy then sad and reflective. The work was written for and premiered by Anthony Dean Griffey at Zankel Hall in NewYork City on October 23 2004 with the composer at the Piano.

This wonderful opera in three acts is based onthe famous play by Tennessee Williams and with the libretto by Philip Littell Previn has beautifully created music which truly evokes a sense of place and setting and reflects the fragility violence and passions of thecharacters.
