for Flute and Piano-Allan Bullard's Duologues was commissioned by Auriol Lark with funds provided by the Arts Council of Great Britain and was first performed in 1993 by Michelle Lee and Christopher Roberts. Designed for advanced performers the work is in three movements and treats the players as equal partners. The first movement develops an arching melody in dialogue between the two instruments. The slow and contemplative second movement takes up and transforms a figure from the first movement and the finale gives the opportunity for sparking and agile playing from both instruments. Duration: approx. 12 minutes.
