A group in their own right is formed by the three string orchestra works written in memory of, and reverence for, Hungarian composers of great stature: Epitaph for Bela Bartok, Hommage a Zoltan Kodaly and a homage to Liszt, that virtuosic composer par excellence of the Romantic era. I have incorporated the two most essential characteristics of Liszt's music - luscious romanticism and virtuosic elan - into the mood and colourful spectrum of the string orchestra sound.
