Terral by Sebastian Fagerlund is a 25-minute concerto for Flute and Orchestra. The title refers not only to earth and nature in general, but to the warm desert wind that occurs in southern Europe. The three-movement work is dedicated to the flutist Sharon Bezaly.

The long canon of strings in the first movement contains the core of the musical material and anticipates the main theme of the third movement. The middle movement is a scherzo-like lively dialogue between the solo part and the orchestra. In the third movement, the previous motifs of the work combine to reveal a passacaglia-like structure.

The work was premiered on 24 September 2021 in Espoo (Finland) by Sharon Bezaly and the Tapiola Sinfonietta conducted by Ryan Bancroft.

This full score (EP 14575) is available for sale as part of the Peters Contemporary Library. The performance material can be hired.
