Sonata in D is a single movement work in a lively 6/8 folk-dance rhythm. Written originally for keyboard, it is played frequently today on both harp and guitar. Now you can perform this fantastic work on marimba as well.

Mateo de Perez de Albeniz (c. 1755-1831) was a Spanish composer and theorist. He served as maestro de capilla (choirmaster) in churches in San Sebastian and Logrono. His compositions include a large number of sacred works including masses, Vespers, motets, and villancicos. Many of these pieces survive in manuscript at the various churches at which he served. He also composed piano music and wrote a theoretical book on Renaissance notation. Albeniz promoted heavily the music of Haydn and Mozart to his students and the broader Spanish population.
