Composed by Grieg, Edward. Arranged by Haynor, James. 20th Century,Romantic Period,World. Score and parts. 121 pages. Gordon Cherry #4803903. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.792288).

The Holberg Suite by Edvard Grieg was originally written for the Piano and later arranged for string orchestra. The composition is a suite of five movements written in 1884, based on 18th century dance forms and dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the Norwegian playright Ludvig Holberg. It is a charming example of neo-classicism, attempting to echo the music from Holberg's era of the 17th century. James Haynor has once again done a splendid job of scoring a major new work for Brass ensemble. The work is appropriate for advanced musicians and about 15 minutes in length.
