Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach was a German composer and the second surviving son of Johann Sebastian Bach. He is considered to be one of the most important figures in the transition between the Baroque and Classical periods of music history. CPE Bach was known for his experimentation with form and harmony, as well as his use of "Empfindsamkeit," a style of expression that conveys intense emotion.
CPE Bach's works have been influential in the development of classical chamber music and duet writing.
