Ferdinand Büchner 1823 - 1906 was a German virtuoso flautist and composer who traveled to Russia and was appointed principal flute of the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. He was also a professor at the Moscow Conservatory. He wrote eight flute concertos and a Concertino for Flute Op 40 all published by Julius Heinrich Zimmermann. This arrangement of the second movement of the Concertino marked  "Andante quasi Allegretto"  is suitable for performance given by either a flutist or an alto recorder player in a church interlude or chamber music concert.
