Published by David Banney (A0.878843).This collection of duos is designed to give pleasure and performance opportunities to young violinists and is specifically designed to complement the Colourstrings curriculum for violin instruction. The melodies used in the duos include some of the melodies use in the Colourstrings curriculum, as well as melodies used in early childhood music programs in Australia and other English-speaking countries. The pieces are arranged systematically and are intended to inspire young players through the chance to play chamber music with more advanced students or with their teacher. In each case the first violin part has simple material, with more advanced material in the second violin.
Each piece is designed to reflect something of the text of the original song, and the character of each piece should be explored in performance It is hoped that these duos may be a source of pleasure for students and a useful resource for teachers.
