The Coventry Carol is a traditional 16th Century carol, from Coventry in England that was composed to be performed as part of The Mystery Plays. The song accompanies the story of the nativity according to Matthew, the lullaby sound of the pieces reflects a mothers sorrow after Herod orders the killing of all new born sons. This arrangement for bassoon trio is ideal for the early beginner.
